Kelley's POV

I lifted my head from Alex's chest after falling asleep last night on the couch. I looked down and she was still fast asleep and I can still remember the sleepovers we had when we were younger.

I let out a small chuckle as I stood up and made some coffee for both Alex and I. That's when I heard her voice as she sat across from me on the kitchen table.

"Did you sleep okay?" She asks me and I nod my head yes. I told her everything about Logan, Morgan and coming out of retirement last night. I was surprised at how well she took it. After all, she was still by my side... she hasn't left.

"Good, you were pretty upset last night." Alex says as she takes a sip of coffee. "What are you doing today?"

"I have practice with my team today. What are you doing?" I ask while looking at her.

"I was hoping I would hang out with you, but maybe after?" Alex asks and I nod my head yes.

The day went by slowly and before you know it, I left Alex at my house and headed to practice to Coach the team. As usual, I passed by Morgan's house only to see that she wasn't walking anywhere nearby. She must have left to practice early.

I didn't feel the need to feel concerned. I drove to the practice field and saw that the team was already doing warm up stretches. I parked my car and grabbed the soccer equipment from the trunk before going out to the field to join my team.

I looked around and felt a wave of panic flow through me when I saw that Morgan was not here. I looked around the perimeter of the field but she wasn't there. I walked over to JJ during their water break and she looked up to me.

"Where's Morgan?" I ask in a stern voice.

"I don't know." JJ says as she shrugs her shoulders and joins the rest of the team.

I kept telling myself that she was okay but what if she wasn't? What if she wasn't okay? Then finally during the middle of practice she showed up and I let out a sigh of relief. It was crazy how much she affected me. I watched her set her stuff down and she joined us during drills.

I walked over to her after practice and pulled her away from everyone else.

"Are you okay?" I ask as I try meeting her eyes but it was as if she couldn't look at me. Like she refused to look at me.

"Fine." She mumbles with her head down.

"Obviously you're not... is it me? You haven't returned any of my calls." I felt the nerves going through me. When she didn't respond I swallowed hard.

"Do you know?" I ask.

"What?" Morgan asks and finally our eyes met. But it wasn't the warm friendly eyes, they were scared sad eyes.

"Do you know that I'm coming out of retirement?" I ask and I watched as Morgan's eyes widened.

"What!" She blurts out. "What do you mean you came out of retirement?"

Shit. I thought to myself. If there was something I could use to disappear I'd use it because I know I just made a big mistake.

"Morgan... let me explain." I say as I reach for her hand but she pulls away from me.

"Explain what? That you did this because you can't handle being with me or that you don't want to be with me at all? What? Are you embarrassed being with me because I'm 5 years younger?" She says and I could see the anger and hurt in her eyes.

"That's not what this is about, Morgan. I'm still at my prime and I know I am. I thought I was ready to leave professional soccer but I was wrong. I still have so much more to give."

"Fine then! Go! Leave!" Morgan says now with tears rolling down her cheeks.

"Morgan! It's not like that!" I say as I grab her by the wrist and force her to look at me. But she just shakes her head.

"I want you to go." She says with her head down as she pulls away from me hard. She was heart broken and it was my fault. I never intended to hurt her.

"Give me a chance to explain! You're graduating college in four weeks then after you can go to New York with me. Maybe even have the chance to play pro."

"Wow." Morgan says as she lets out a sarcastic laugh. "At least you thought about me! Well you know what, fuck you! Fuck you for rushing me into something I'm not ready for and fuck you for lying to me! I saw you sleeping with that girl this morning!"

"What?" I ask as I thought about Alex.

"You know what I'm talking about, Kelley. You know, I was finally happy and now you just have to be the second person to stab me in the back. I trusted you! I can't believe I trusted you." Morgan says with endless tears rolling down her cheeks.

"You can still trust me, Morgan."

"No! You ruined my life! Now go! Be with that girl!" She screams and I felt tears rolling down my cheeks.

"Morgan... I'm sorry..."

"Just go."
