As  Shelagh walked down the steps to the club the loud music thumped against her head, she could predict a headache in her future already. Trixie smiled encouragingly at her friend.
''Are you ready sweetie?'' She asked warmly, the lilt in her tone slightly amused at Shelagh's obvious concern. Shelagh inhaled deeply and nodded nervously.
"As I'll ever be...'' She sighed pushing open the doors to the loud club. Once they were inside and had met up with Valarie they sat down with drinks. Shelagh stared down at the fizzy drink.

''It won't bite you know! It's Babycham not a Cobra!'' Trixie laughed, Valarie took a sip and cringed slightly.
''I beg to differ! This is stronger than what I've had before!'' Valarie replied putting her glass down. Shelagh raised an eyebrow at Trixie and took a sip gingerly recoiling as the syrupy sweet liquid slid down her throat, Trixie, Barbara, Valarie, Delia and Patsy giggled as they watched their poor friend struggled with the alcoholic drink.
''It's so-- sweet and bitter at the same time-!'' Shelagh gasped through strained coughs. Barbara put her hand on Shelagh's kindly.
"Don't worry, I had the same reaction" She told her friend. Shelagh picked up the glass and took another sip, the bubbles made her lip tingle and the sweetness was easier to handle now she had tried it already.
"I feel like dancing!" Trixie cried, making Shelagh jump and spill her drink a little bit. Barbara scooted out of her chair and ran to join Trixie.
"I'll join you! But... You'll lead?" Barbara said taking her friend's arm.
"You're dreaming if you think I'd let you lead!" Trixie replied, their laughter faded away as they walked onto the busy dance floor. Patsy took Delia's arm and dragged her onto the dance floor too, leaving Shelagh and Valarie alone.
"It's really not that bad. Sure there is the odd drunk man hunting for easy pickings but if you know how to deflect them, It's really fun!" Valarie told Shelagh who didn't find this extremely helpful.
"Drunk men?" Shelagh asked timidly.
"Er-- they probably won't bother you, you're wearing a wedding ring!" Valarie stuttered smiling warmly. Shelagh nodded slowly, she still didn't really understand but she had no way to clarify because Delia grabbed Valarie and pulled her away too. Shelagh picked up her cup again and took another, longer sip as she watched her friends dance.
"Join us!" Barbara called from behind Trixie, Shelagh shook her head, smiling kindly.
"I can't dance without Patrick! He always leads!" She called back at her.
"Well I can lead!" Valarie replied
"I have two left feet unless it's with Patrick!" Shelagh said looking down at her drink taking another big swig.
