Shelagh shut the door behind her sighing in relief. She just needed to get out into some fresh air and away from her husband for a while. Shelagh knew where she wanted to go but she wasn't sure she'd be completely welcome... No, they always made time for her there. Shelagh inhaled sharply regaining her composure, she walked down the cobbled streets, occasionally smiling and waving at some of her former patients or the rare midwife or two on their rounds. after a while she arrived at Nonnatus house, and was faced with a decision to knock on the door or turn around and go elsewhere. fortunately her choice was made for her when Sister Monica Joan opened the door.
''Sister-! I apologize, I'll be out of your hair in a moment I just needed to speak to Sister Julienne... if she's free at all?" Shelagh decided quickly, she needed help and if anyone could help it was Sister Julienne.
''Jupiter and Venus are aligned! Bad omens are among us, we must act with haste to rid them of our lodgings.'' Sister Monica Joan told Shelagh who nodded like she understood, just as she used to when the old nun went on her ramblings. Barbara walked into the room and spotted Shelagh who seemed completely lost to what Sister Monica Joan was saying.
''Sister? I believe there is a sponge cake in the cake tin, but I think Trixie had her eye on them so you might want to hurry.'' Barbara called over in an attempt to rescue poor Shelagh who sighed in relief when Sister Monica Joan scurried into the kitchen
''Hands off! The baked goods are not fit for consumption until I have determined they are safe!" the old nun called into the kitchen. The two women giggled for a moment before getting back to business.
''I do hope she didn't hold you up too much, what can I do for you?" Barbara chuckled smiling kindly, Shelagh's smile drained quickly from her face once she remembered why she was there.
"I'm here to see Sister Julienne if she's free, I don't wish to be a burden.'' Shelagh replied, trying her best to keep the nervousness out of her tone. Barbara nodded kindly, noticing the small hint of panic in her friend's voice.
"She always has time for you. This way." She told Shelagh calmingly.
