Cradling her hand, I then reached for her pristine head. She needed a hug. One hug and she would be alive. One touch and she would be healed. But I knew that wasn't true.
Minutes passed as I stared at her. She seemed to be in a deep sleep - wait, had anyone tried to see if she was alive yet? So I checked and found nothing. A sleep like death.
Damn Brook! Damn bloody vampires! Damn life without my best friend - but I knew that she wasn't my just my friend. I liked her; I liked her a lot. I just hadn't bothered to tell her when it counted. Stupid boy! A tear began to form in my eye - but it was too late to grieve. I just had to get over it, even if it was the last thing I did.
Getting up, I went outside to get Thomas. Boy did I choose the wrong moment! They were eating each other's faces! Thomas' hands lingered on Teresa's bum as she reached up to trace around his petite ears. They were all over each other. Jealousy wept into my blood, flying round my body. Now wasn't the time.
Clearing my throat, they began to slowly notice me. Teresa tapped on Thomas's shoulder, still attached to his relaxed face. Breaking apart, they looked at me and blushed in synchronization. "You can see Rose now. I think she deserves you to be there instead of me." Thomas's brow furrowed, as though he felt my pain.
"Sure? Well, Teresa stay here. Unless...do you want to come see her?" At this, Teresa sniggered.
"See a dead body? No thanks. Look, it's your sister, have some time on your own before I intrude." He nodded and walked into the bleak cave as me and Teresa stood awkwardly. "Hey. You okay? Stupid question. I know you aren't okay. Want to talk about it?" I knew she meant well, but this was called snooping.
"Don't really want to. Thanks for the offer. Just wish that I could have done something to save her."
"Don't we all. Well, I will leave you on peace. I am going to get some flowers to braid Rose's hair with. Fine on your own." That seemed like a nice idea. Beautiful flowers for an even more beautiful girl.
"I'm fine. Go get those flowers before it's too late."
Minutes passed. Hours passed. Something was nagging at the side of my brain. Replaying the conversation, I began to realize just what it was. It was just wish I could have done something to save her. I knew why. What I had meant to say was just wish that I could do something to save her. I had an idea. A barbaric one. I needed the supplies. We always had the antidote for Griever venom in there, it was just we never used it...
