"kid, why do you look like a puppy who got rejected a cuddle?" ray asked, walking into the man cave.
henry took a sip out of whatever was in the cobalt blue cup.
"i'm not upset." he replied, taking a nacho out of the bowl. "it doesn't look like you're happy either." ray added.
"i'm not. i'm in my feelings today." henry mumbled, making ray gag.
"ew, so girly of you."
"shut up." henry moaned, shooting a laser at ray. "hey, watch it. i have one too." ray said, defensively.
"where's charlotte? she's good with this kinda stuff. charlotte!" ray wondered out loud making henry groan out loud.
"what?" ray said, getting annoyed by henry's attitude.
"she's not here. she's in new york taking a college tour or whatever." he responded, his voice a bit whiny.
"college tour? aren't you guys like in the 10th grade?" ray asked.
"yeah, but she already wants to pick out a college. she has her whole life planned out and i barely have time to find a pair of matching socks." he says, putting his feet up on the table to reveal a white and blue sock.
ray laughed.
henry glared at him making ray to shut up and take a seat next to him.
"what's really bothering you, kid?" ray asked.
"i don't know. i've felt so empty without charlotte this week and i don't know what's going on." he said, tears nearly brimming his eyes.
"is it maybe because you're worried charlotte is gonna leave you once you graduate high school?" ray asked, already knowing the answer.
"i guess, but sometimes i feel like it's just more than that. she's my best friend ray, and losing her would tear me apart." henry said, his insides seeming to just wither up with every thought of charlotte leaving him.
"henry, are you sure it's not because you have feelings for her?" ray said, wiggling his eyebrows.
"i don't have- ugh, you've made me more confused than ever." henry yelled.
"just stop thinking about all of this mushy stuff and leave it at a maybe. and when charlotte gets back, you talk to her all about this." he said, making hand gestures towards henry.
"yeah, maybe."
