charlotte was walking through the halls of swellview high, alone, like usual. she had moved to swellview a little more than a month ago, and she was not adapting well.

it's not because she isn't nice or because she's antisocial, it's more that the swellview high residents didn't want anything to do with her.

when your dad is rich and a newly elected member of city hall, you'd believe everyone would want to get to know her, but it was very much the opposite.

"hey, char!"

she turned her head at the sudden greeting to look over at a tall blonde boy. she smiled and waved back as the boy came to her side.

"hey, henry." she smiled.

henry, the high school heart throb, wide reciever of the football team, starter on the baseball team, and currently learning how to play the trumpet, hart.

the first day she walked in through the front doors of the school, he was the first to greet her and welcome her to the school. he showed her around and even sat with her during lunch, knowing his friends were waiting for him.

he was very welcoming and open with her and she felt like he was the only friend she would ever need in the small town.

the thing is, people didn't want her near the town's golden boy and that's when things started getting uglier than they already were.

around the second week after she began to attend swellview high, people began to whisper about her whenever she walked by.

"she's not even pretty."

"she should move back to where ever she came from."

"i wonder how much she's paying him to be around her."

she wasn't one to confront anyone for meaningless comments, so she ignored them and continued with her day, but things weren't always that easy.

it continued to get worse, notes were being left in her locker, she would recieve daily rude comments, and people were becoming more vocal about their disliking towards her.

she knew she could confide in henry but she didn't want to bother him with her problems, after all, no one would insult her in front of him.

"so, i was thinking after my game tomorrow, we could head downtown and get some sushi. there's this new place i've been dying to try and i'd love for you to try it with me." henry said, as they stopped at her locker.

she opened her locker and a small slip of paper fell out, she quickly picked it up and slipped it into her pocket without him noticing.

she smiled up at him before replying.

"sure, but only if you promise to let me pay." she says, making henry shake his head.

"no ma'am, i'm inviting so it's my treat." he replies.

charlotte playfully rolls her eyes and smiles. "fine, i'll be happy to accompany you."

"great, i'll see you after school by my car?" henry asks.

"like usual." she replies, as the bell rings, indicating for everyone to head to their last class of the day.

henry smiles and waves as he leaves to his pre-calculus class. charlotte waits a moment until she sees him disappear around the corner so she can pull the small piece of paper out of her pocket.

she takes a deep breath before opening the small piece of paper.

'daddy's money can't buy you friends, bitch.'
