the echoes of the knocking filled the air, making the situation even more frustrating. no one outside of the room was going to let them out and charlotte knew it. either way, she was going to continue to try because there was no way that she would spend any more time with him.

"open the door, jasper! this isn't funny." charlotte yelled, her fist pounding against the door.

"i'm sorry, i can't. we're doing this for your own good." jasper replied, sitting himself in a chair on the other side of the door.

"i hate you guys." charlotte grumbled, continuing to knock on the door, hoping they would open the door.

the constant kicking and knocking on the door was the only sound filling the air, until it was becoming unbearable.

"could you stop?" he asked angrily, causing charlotte to face him.

"no, i won't stop, henry, i don't want to be anywhere near you." she stated before turning back to the door.

henry rolled his eyes before beginning to speak again, interrupting charlotte's knocking on the door.

"i don't want to be anywhere near you either but your stupid knocking isn't going to get us out of here." henry retorted.

charlotte scoffed and backed away from the door.

"jasper, buddy, open the door." henry called out, hoping he'd be able to convince him to open the door.

they could hear whispers on the other side of the door and a disappointed sigh, giving them hope that jasper was going to open the door.

"i can't. chloe and bianca said you're not allowed to leave until you guys make up." jasper explained, making henry place his head on the door.

they could not believe this was happening.

it was the last day of school and they would rather be walking home in the blistering heat then be in a small, windowless janitor's closet with each other.

they stood at the farthest corners away from each other, angrily sighing and rolling their eyes at each other every time they made eye contact. they were being childish and they both knew it but neither would apologize first.

"this is ridiculous." henry thought out loud, beginning to go through the janitor's cleaning supplies in order to pass the time.

he would've pulled out his phone, but ms.shapen took it because she "swore" it had been buzzing the entire class period.

sadly for him, ms.shapen was stubborn and didn't believe him, even with the obvious evidence. she was out to get him and henry was sure about that, though he wasn't sure why.

charlotte looked over at henry, who seemed to be reading the labels of the different cleaning products. she was jealous that he had chosen the corner with all the products, finding something to entertain him.

she had misplaced her phone earlier through day, which now made her realize that it might've not been misplaced at all, but a part of her friends' twisted plan.

henry swatted at the bottles in front of him, all the bottles clattering at his feet. charlotte jumped at the sudden noise, turning to face henry.

"could you be quiet?" she questioned, the words dripping with obvious annoyance.

he rolled his eyes before turning to face her.

his friends wanted them to apologize to each other but there was no way henry would be doing anything close to apologizing. he wasn't at fault here and he was sure of that.

he was angry that everyone was blaming him for her actions. she was her own person and could take responsibility for her actions.

he was loyal and committed to what was supposed to be a blossoming relationship, unlike her who had been using him to make her ex-boyfriend jealous.

"you have some nerve." henry said, confusing charlotte but making her a little more angry.

"what the hell are you talking about, hart?" she sneered. she wasn't playing games with him anymore. he was being a big baby about nothing and she didn't want to deal with it.

"walking around school all high mighty acting like you're some perfect princess."

the comment made her expression falter but as quick as it came, it disappeared. his pettiness was not going to get to her.

"i can't believe i actually fell for you. after everything, i fell for you. i was such an idiot, correction, i am an idiot." henry said, not directing his words towards her but to himself.

"what are you talking about?" charlotte questioned. this time he turned around and his expression was hard. he was mad, maybe even upset, after all, he wasn't the one pretending.

"this whole thing was just playing pretend to you! you were using me to make that stupid idiot jealous when he's never even gave you the time of day." henry yelled.

he was angry at her for pretending like she didn't notice.

"i have gave you everything these last four months and the moment that he finally sees you, you drop me! he doesn't care about you, charlotte! not like i do." he mumbled the last part, turning away from her.

charlotte stayed silent making henry even angrier.

the door knob wiggled, the door swinging open to reveal jasper and the girls. they had heard the entire thing and felt guilty for putting them in that position.

henry rolled his eyes and pushed passed them, leaving charlotte standing dumbfounded, tears pooling in her eyes.
