or at least that's what ray and schowz had told charlotte after henry had gotten hurt once again while being kid danger.
but here she sat, in a chair in the waiting room of a hospital, waiting to hear news about her boyfriend of 8 months.
she was scared to hear how her boyfriend was doing. the restlessness of her nerves and her quickening heartbeat were no help as she tried to calm down and hope for the best.
of course this wasn't the first time she had felt such feeling. as the girlfriend of the one and only kid danger, she had to experience the same situation more than she'd like to.
this had been the third time this week that she has had to sit in the same hospital for hours waiting to hear news from the doctors.
each time a doctor has news, it gets worse and worse because each time he's reopened a healing wound.
but even when charlotte tells him to take some time off, he insists that he's fine because he's kid danger and has a city to protect.
she nervously messed with the bracelet on her wrist that henry had gave her for her birthday a few months ago, which they had also spent in the hospital.
suddenly footsteps came running from the entrance causing her to look up from the floor to see ray and jasper running towards her.
seeing ray caused her to start getting slightly angry because he also wouldn't give henry the rest that he needed.
"henry hart?" a doctor called out causing charlotte, jasper, and ray to walk towards him.
"what's wrong with him?" charlotte asked as she nervously awaited for the doctor's answer.
"well, he's once again opened old wounds which caused him to lose more blood than he should've which also caused him to lose consciousness a lot quicker than usual but other than that he's only suffered a few new cuts and scratches and a broken wrist." the doctor explained causing them to all sigh in relief.
"may we see him?" ray asked making the doctor nod his head in response.
"he's in room 293, down this hall on the right. he might be asleep still so please be as quiet as possible. he needs as much rest as he can get." the doctor replied.
charlotte, jasper and ray all made their way down the hall.
"luckily he's fine." ray said, trying to break the silence making charlotte scoff.
"what's wrong with you?" ray asked as they stopped in front of henry's room door.
"what's wrong with me? well, i'm in the hospital for the third time this week because my boyfriend keeps getting hurt and each time i'm not sure whether he's alive or not." charlotte replied.
"oh come on, charlotte. he's the one that wants to keep fighting all these bad guys, it's what he signed up for! i can't just stop him." ray said.
"actually you can! you're his damn boss for crying out loud! you know he's supposed get at least two weeks off after he gets hurt to give his wounds time to heal but you don't. you just let him come back everyday to work, knowing that opening one of those very fragile wounds could be the end of him." charlotte exclaimed causing jasper to agree quietly.
"he's always fun, what could be the damage? i always get hurt and it only lasts a few seconds." ray shrugged.
"you're fucking indestructible! he's not. he's a regular 18 year old whose body needs rest after taking so many beatings! stop being so damn selfish and actually think about him for once! and if you're not gonna think about his well being, then do it for mine because being here almost everyday knowing that my boyfriend could possibly be dead hurts me so damn much and i'm tired of it. i'm sick and tired of it." she explained, tears beginning to escape her eyes as she entered henry's room.
henry sat in the hospital bed, watching reruns of drake and josh on the small tv in the room.
"baby, hey. have you been crying?" henry asked as a concerned look took over his features.
she wiped her eyes, smiling at him. his caring nature always made her heart melt.
"i'm fine. i was just worried about you." she whispered as they kissed each other softly.
"i'm sorry that i worry you so much. i hate having to be in these damn hospitals all the time." he replied, as his fingers made circles into her palm.
"trust me, i do too. i never know if you'll ever walk out of one again." she mumbled, tears filling her eyes once again.
"charlotte, don't think like that."
"i can't help it, hen. it's hard to know how much danger you put yourself in when you go on those missions and not ever being able to know if you'll make it back." she cried quietly as he wiped her tears.
henry sighed.
"i have to do it, it's my job to protect swellview." he explained.
"i know that, but please take a break. let your body heal, take some time off. please, for me?" she begged as he pulled her down for a small kiss.
"i promise. i'll take the next two weeks off." he replied, making her smile softly.
"thank you."

i'm sorry that i went m.i.a, again but my summer began like 2 weeks ago so my updates should hopefully be more frequent.
i'm currently working on 2 other one shots already so hopefully they'll be up soon.
