excitement coursed through her veins, a giddy feeling settling in her stomach. soon enough, she'd be finding the gender of her first child. their first child.
she had been waiting for this moment for so long, since the moment she found out she was pregnant. it never left her mind that soon enough, she'd be bringing a new life into the world.
her excitement left her restless, eager to begin the day leading up to the very moment she's going to find out whether she's having a little boy or girl.
it wasn't even close to seven am when she was up and fully ready for the day. she was making breakfast when she heard footsteps coming down the stairs.
she looked over to see her husband, of 2 years, trotting down the stairs in his pajamas. their golden retriever following him down happily.
"good morning!" she cheered happily, setting a cup of coffee and a stack of pancakes on the table. he laughed lightly before taking a seat at the table.
"well, you're excited." he mumbled, inaudibly, his mouth full of pancake. "don't talk with your mouthful, hen." she smiled, sitting across from him at the table.
she grabbed a piece of bacon from a plate and gave it to jax, their dog. "aren't you excited?" she asked, looking up at henry.
he nodded. "of course i am. we're having our first baby and i am ready to have a mini you running around our house." he smiled, making her face heat up.
they had been together for so long and he still made her feel butterflies. they went through so much to get to this moment and god, she loved him so much. he loved her so much.
"how are you so sure it's a girl? what if it's a boy?" she teased, as they both got up from the table, cleaning up the dishes.
he shrugged. it didn't matter to him whether the baby was a girl or boy, he was just happy it was their kid.
"i would be equally as excited." he responded in full honesty. "well, for your sake, i hope she's a girl." she said, continuing to tease him.
"for my sake?" he questioned.
"i know for a fact you want a little girl and you very much seem like a girl dad type of guy. it just fits you." she explained.
"i guess you're right." he replies, going back up the stairs to get ready for the day.
after a few hours of cleaning around the house and getting more excited by the minute, they were finally on their way to the party location.
the gender reveal party was being held at piper's house because she had taken full responsibility of preparing everything down to the second. luckily for them, piper owned her own party planning business so they trusted her enough to the point where she knew exactly what she was doing.
"how much you want to bet that we're having a girl?" henry asked, parking on the side of the road as piper's driveway was filled with a variety of different cars.
he exited the car, going to the other side and opening the door for her. "you want to bet on the gender of our baby?" she puzzled, henry holding her hand as they made their way to the door.
he shrugged. "i think it'll be fun.", he teased, "unless you're scared."
she scoffed. "oh please, do you know who you're speaking to? i'm charlotte paige bolton." she spoke, her competitive side showing.
"hart." henry corrected, knowing that his wife liked to tease him. "well, hart, how much are we betting?" charlotte asked, even though she believed she was having a girl, she would give into her husband's childish antics.
"not sure, what are you willing to put on the table?" he asked, as they both stopped in front of the door.
"10 bucks."
"just 10?" he asked, in disbelief. charlotte jokingly rolled her eyes. "how about a new puppy?" she asked, knowing that henry was a sucker for dogs.
a smile spread onto his features which reassured that they had a deal. "10 bucks and a puppy? now that i can get by with." he replied, about to open the door before charlotte tugged him back.
"excuse me, what do i get if i win?" she questioned.
"the same thing?"
"i'm not exactly winning if you're still happy at the end of the bet." she defended, before he sighed.
"fine, 10 bucks and i'll let you decide the colors of the nursery." he said, which was a very tempting offer because he really wanted to choose the colors himself.
"throw in breakfast in bed for a week and you have a deal." she bargained, extending her hand out for him to shake.
he shook her hand and they finally entered the house. the house was covered in multiple decorations, all consisting of pinks and blues.
the cupcakes, candy, rubber ducks, and even peoples' outfits.
they walked into the backyard where even more pink and blue decorations were hanging from various places. piper noticed them and quickly ran over to them, her outfit being a white romper so she wouldn't raise suspicion.
"you guys are finally here! we were about to pop the confetti cannons ourselves." she joked, hugging them individually.
"the party looks amazing, pipes. you did great." henry said, as his sister rolled his eyes.
"obviously, i'm offended you had doubts." she teased as he jokingly shrugged in response before excusing himself and heading off to look for jasper.
"so, what do you think it is?" piper asked charlotte.
charlotte looked down at her outfit, as if it wasn't enough to state her thoughts. "i'm pretty sure it's girl, but since i've placed a bet with henry, i'm hoping it's a boy." she responded.
piper gaped at her. "you guys made a bet?" she questioned.
"yes, but i'm positive it's a girl. so i'm about to be 10 bucks short and be stopping at pet smart on my home." she replied.
"what the heck? pet smart?" piper yelled out as charlotte walked away from her to mingle with the other guests.
after a few hours of chatting and playing games, it was finally time to find out what the gender of the baby was.
piper handed henry the confetti cannon, making them stand on a certain spot. everyone began counting down, when henry whispered over to charlotte.
"we both know it's a girl, right?" he teased, charlotte nodding along.
there was never a doubt in her mind.
"3, 2, 1!"
henry twisted the cap on the confetti cannon and in a quick moment, pink confetti filled the air, cheers erupting as charlotte and henry shared a quick kiss.
"so, pet smart or pet co?"
