To Add or Substract

Whether it's intentional or not
We are unaware at what we've become
When we change, we cannot simply "erase" ourselves
We just move on, and cover up
Accepting whatever it was that we try to cover up decides who you can be
With a permanent stain, faded but nonetheless there, you just can't rid of it
It has history, most likely a mistake
Accidental or not, we try to make it nonexistent
But as you see you can not do anything about it,
We either discard or keep the object
If we keep it, we tend to never wear it again excluding those few who continue to wear it
What was the point of this poem?
Well that's like asking
What was the point of keeping the object?
The real question is
What, How, When, and Why?
To add or subtract?
And still, we are unaware. But do not worry, because eventually you'll know. Whether through the people around you or by self examination. Either one will still be a shocking process, answer, and event.
