Fights with Robert always happened. Whether if it was on Magnus' side or Alec's. No one had anything nice to say. Especially since the year was almost over. Not even a month until Alec and Jace would be able to travel back to New York.

Alec was overly done with Peru. The heat. The humidity. And the festivals. He hated them with a passion. But they made him realize why Magnus loved Peru so much. He had those thoughts and times to be thankful for.

They were both elated about only a few weeks left. They couldn't visit each other during the holidays because the Lightwoods didn't celebrate anymore. Mainly because of Max.

And Jace had him too busy during his birthday. Trying to keep Alec's mind off of home and Magnus. Alec was thankful for his brother the whole time. He definitely made it easier to cope with his whole situation.

But instead of dreading the final weeks, like Alec, Magnus was excited. He tried to talk to Alec constantly, and always seemed overly caffeinated. Alec found it adorable.

They swapped stories weekly. Alec's usually stayed around the topic of training and festivals. While Magnus' stayed on the topic of fights and clients. And the talks of fights never made Alec happy. But, he enjoyed how much Magnus did for him even while he was still away. But there were specific details that Alec decided to block out of his mind.

That definitely made the weeks go by quicker. And Alec even found himself smiling more. Jace always teased him about the day when they get back. But Alec was able to return the favour by teasing him on his and Clary's relationship.

Even though the last week was the longest, it was the funniest he has had in a long time. Him and Jace often talked nonsense half the night, him and Magnus did the same.

But the day of leaving was the best.

Him, Jace, and the rest of the Institute had to stay up extremely late to arrive in New York at a time that worked for them.

Alec was dazed by sleep deprivation. Jace wasn't much better. They both stumbled often, and even lost concept of time. But Alec was definitely worse. He was too excited to sleep at all the night before. He wasn't getting many calls from Magnus. But he knew that he also stayed up. Alec often got texts at the times that Magnus should've been asleep.

It made him happy. Magnus was the only thing keeping him focused.

Jace and Alec's bags were already transported. It made their jobs easier.

Right before they left they gave there thanks to the eldest of the Shadowhunter family. They said bye to the adults around their ages. They had made friendships with them, Jace and Alec even promised to visit again.

The younger kids hugged them and asked them to come again. It made Alec happy to see kids favour him. He's always loved kids. Always wanted a family.

He tried to clear his thoughts as he stepped through a shimmering dark blue portal.

A rush of chilly and then humid air hit Alec first. He opened his eyes slowly and was shocked by the bright witch-stone light of the Institute.

It was so familiar to him that he could explain every inch of the library with his eyes closed.

He heard someone call his name. He could swear the voice had changed in the past year.

He turned his head to see his sister and Clary darting in the room. Clary hugged both Jace and Alec at the same time. Alec wasn't as aware of the height difference between the three in till that moment. He suddenly felt self conscious.

Clary kissed Jace on the lips and then she turned and kissed Alec on his check. He felt a blush creep on his cheeks.

Once Clary let go, Izzy was the next one to attack them with hugs and kisses. They all talked briefly, and Jace and Alec promised to explain more in the afternoon when they would at least have a few hours of sleep.
