Alec noticed Magnus away slightly. Just that little sign put him on edge.

Magnus was healing Shadowhunters. Some of them clearly upset that a Warlock was healing them. Alec was ready to beat each of them to a bloody pulp, but they basically already were.

He was wasting his magic, and it was running dangerously low. To the point where he was moments from passing out.

Alec just hopped he would finish before seriously hurting himself, he would've talked Magnus out of healing, and try to get him to rest way earlier. But, Alec already knew it was a hopeless case. Magnus was unbelievably stubborn.

Alec felt a tap on his shoulder, pulling him out of his thoughts.

Jace stood being him, looking curiously in the same direction that Alec was.

"Are you okay?" Jace asked in a tone that he rarely used, only used in moments of dire importance.

Alec nodded. He wasn't physically hurt in the surprise battle that Sebastian engaged, but others were. Isabelle was one, it was a minor injury, Magnus healed it quickly, but it still set Alec on edge.

"Just. . . anxious," Alec said, finally agreeing on the word. Jace nodded, he would be able to feel and get a sense of what Alec was thinking and feeling. So he knew what Alec was wanting to say.

"Why do you think Sebastian chose now? We just fought, not even days ago," Jace asked. Alec knew he had an answer, Jace just wanted Alec's answer.

Alec calculated the different reasons.

"Fear isn't the reason, he knows he already has that. To lower our forces is a possible reason, but he wouldn't want that, it wouldn't be fun for him. . . Did he say anything to Clary or you? Was he even at the battle?" Alec thought out loud, his speech often speeding and slowing as the thought.

Jace shook his head, his hand resting on his chin. "Clary didn't say, and I didn't see him at the battle. I'll ask around."

Alec nodded. He looked back at Magnus who finished healing an ungrateful Shadowhunter. He saw Magnus run his hands through his hair before he turned and spotted Alec. He smiled at Magnus, Magnus didn't return the smile, but Alec didn't take it personally.

Magnus started walking towards the two. He leaned on Alec immediately, making him appear smaller. Which was odd since he was 6'2.

Alec wrapped his arm around Magnus, making sure he was stable. He was pale, which was always strange with his tan skin. His usually bright eyes were dark, becoming more green than gold. His hair was damp with sweat.

Alec subconsciously moved Magnus' hair put of his face.

"Are you feeling okay?" Alec asked softly.

Magnus nodded. "Just a little depleted, but I'm fine," Magnus said with his usual tone. That atleast showed that he wasn't lying. Completely.

"Mags did you notice Sebastian at the battle?" Alec asked.

He could feel Jace looking at him, waiting for Magnus' answer.

"I felt him. I always do. It's like a dark and twisted spot in the Magic everywhere," Magnus said before sighing and closing his eyes.

Alec thought that over. Did no one see him? Was he trying to be inconspicuous? Was this a trick?

The last one nagged at him for longer than he would've liked.

He turned to Jace," Go try to get information, we'll speak to the Clave about it tomorrow."
