Magnus was alerted to Alec's arrival when he heard the front door of his flat slam. Clearly Alec was upset, and Magnus knew a possible reason why.
He sighed deeply before leaving his room. As suspected Alec was in the main living area. His bag on the ground near the door, clearly thrown to it's place. And he now faced the wall while taking his shoes off.
Magnus quietly walked towards him and slipped his arms around Alec's waist. He bent down so he could softly miss Alec's neck.
"Magnus, don't," Alec snapped. Magnus was shocked at his cold tone, but he knew that was going to happen anyway.
He stepped away from Alec hesitantly. He wanted to explain to Alec why he made this decision, but even the Angel knew that Alec wouldn't listen.
Alec finally got his shoes off and turned around while crossing his arms.
Magnus instantly noticed the pain in his eyes and how his cheeks were red from anger. He just wanted to hug his Shadowhunter and explain how everything would be okay.
"Why?" Alec said abruptly, breaking Magnus' train of thought.
"Why what?" Magnus replied, trying to see if they were discussing the same thing.
Alec clearly wasn't having it since he sighed and his cheeks got redder.
"London Mags, why are you going to London?" Alec asked. He was, clearly, trying to keep the anger out of his tone, but was failing.
It was Magnus' turn to sigh. "Because the Clave asked. And as my job as Representative I had to," Magnus said calmly.
Smoke was practically coming put of Alec's ears. "Bullshit! You never listen to the Clave! Not unless you have something to get out of it!" Alec yelled.
Magnus took a step back. He was ready to yell back but knew he had to stay calm or this would turn out worse.
"I do have something to get out of it," he said.
Alec only stood still, but now his hands were by his side, balled into fists.
"What? What could you possibly achieve from helping a family across the ocean other that leaving your sons and boyfriend behind?" Alec said in a deadly calm voice that could scare demons.
"You know I don't want to leave you, nor the kids," Magnus said back immediately without realizing it.
"Then why?" Alec still had that deathly calm tone.
Magnus shook his head,"I don't need to explain. All you need to know is that I'm going and you're staying here. I can't risk your life."
Alec looked appalled. "How am I supposed to keep you from danger if you won't even tell me what you're doing!" He yelled the loudest that he had yet. Magnus was afraid he would wake up Max or Rafe. That would only add to this hassle.
"I can handle myself, I am the most powerful Warlock, if you haven't noticed," Magnus said before walking away.
He knew not to ever walk away from an argument with Alec, but it was too much. He needed to be away, only if that have him three seconds of peace, he would take it.
And that's exactly what he got before Alec started yelling again.
"You are sick Magnus! Sick with an incurable thing that is affecting Warlocks! You haven't gone one week without passing out have you? Not one week where you've had all your magic, I can't let you go away like that! If anything was to happen to you I wouldn't be able to live with that," Alec's anger increased.
