Chapter 12

I changed into something a little nicer then just my sweatpants. I checked to make sure I had everything I needed in my purse then I walked downstairs to wait. It was 11:55 so I didn't have long before he came.

"Hey I thought you were going?" Luke asked me.

"I'm waiting for him to pick me up." I said rolling my eyes.

"Oh, okay." He said going back to look at the TV.

I just realized Luke didn't know about how depressed I was after he had left. Maybe someday I would tell him, and maybe I would tell him the truth about my hand. And what my dad had said to me. I still didn't fully trust him like a brother yet, so I wasn't about to go spilling all my secrets.

Right at 12:00 there was a knock on the door. I opened it and Jonathan was standing there smiling.

"Hey Em." He said hugging me.

"Hey Jon." I said smiling.

"What happened to your hand and your head?" He asked his eyebrows furrowed.

"Oh, that well I slipped and fell earlier." I said shrugging.

"Oh you really need to stop injuring yourself." He said chuckling.

"I know right?" I said smiling." I injure myself way to much."

"You do. Are you ready to go?" He asked me as he stepped back.

"Yep, got everything." I said double checking I had my purse.

"Then let's go." He said.

I heard a gasp behind me and turned to find Luke staring at Jonathan, well his back cause he had started walking towards his car. Luke stared at me his eyes wide, okay maybe I would have some explaining to do when I got back.

I winked at Luke and waved before shutting the door. I walked to Jon's car and, like before, he opened the door for me. I got in and pulled the door shut he got in his side and started up the car.

"So who was that?" He asked. I guess he had seen Luke after all." Your boyfriend?"

"No." I said snorting." Me having a boyfriend yeah right. He's my brother that I didn't tell you about." I said hoping he wouldn't be upset that I had lied to him.

"Oh, why didn't you tell me about him?" He asked.

"Umm well before today we weren't on the best of terms." I explained.

"Oh I see." He said nodding his head in understanding.

"Yep, so how are things with you and Lindsey?" I asked him. I was curious about how well their relationship was holding up.

"I don't know anymore. When we started dating I was so in love and now I just don't know. I don't feel the same about her anymore." He said sighing.

"Aww that's so sad. I know how that feels you're so in love then suddenly something changes." I said sadly reminiscing in memories of how my relationship with Jake had been so good and then it just fell apart.

"Yeah, did it happen to you?" He asked.

"Yeah... I met this really nice guy and we became friends then started dating and then things just changed he wasn't the same." I said not elaborating about changed. He didn't need to know that when he changed he started abusing me.

"Oh, I'm sorry." He said resting his one hand on my shoulder.

"Thanks, I just wish you weren't going through the same thing with Lindsey it hurt me a lot." I said sighing.
