Jacob was putting away his apron when he heard the door open, he went over to tell the person that the shop was closed for the night but instead it was his new employee Queenie Goldstein, (whom he had grown a soft spot for) crying into a pink satin handkerchief. Jacob could see that she was truly hurting and went over to comfort her,
"Hey, Queenie, shhh it's okay, you're okay, calm down now," he said putting his arm around her shoulder, leading her to a table and helping her sit down.
"Oh Mr. Kowalski," Queenie cried harder,
"Shh, it's okay doll, now what's going on?" Jacob said kneeling down so that they were eye to eye. Queenie wiped her eyes,
"my sister doesn't approve of me working here," Queenie sobbed, "and she ain't happy that I quit my job either, so I ran away from home and oh I don't know what to do!" Queenie wailed as Jacob pulled her into a tight hug.
"Oh Queenie, I'm real sorry, why doesn't your sister want you to work here? If it's about money I'd be happy to-" Queenie managed a smile, "you're awfully kind Mr. Kowalski, but my sister and I have always been close, this is the first big fight we've had in a long time and she's been under a lot of stress at work so I don't want to bother her." Queenie said sadly.
"Poor girl," Jacob thought, "I wish I could help her-"
"Hey!" Jacob said suddenly an idea coming to him. "Would you like to stay with me?" He asked, Queenie looked up in surprise, Jacob felt embarrassed.
"Uh, I mean if you wanna I have a spare guest room and uh you know until you and your sister make up..." He stuttered, "Oh Mr. Kowalski," Queenie said smiling, happy tears in her eyes. "I would love to, thank you!" She hugged him tight. Jacob smiled back,
"Please, call me Jacob."

Newt woke up to the birds chirping outside the window of the Goldstein apartment, he got off the couch and went over to check on Tina who he could hear crying from her room last night.
He went to open the door but stopped realizing that it may not be appropriate for him to go into a lady's bedroom without her permission. He hesitated but remembering her sobs from last night gave him the courage to open the door just a smidge.
He peeked in and saw Tina lying on the bed, sheets in a tangle and the softest, calmest expression he had ever seen. He found himself walking towards her and kneeling by her bed resting his head on his arms just watching her sleep. He could see her chest rise up and down and he could hear her mumbling in her sleep.
Newt never really got a chance to look around at Tina's bedroom, his eyes traveled around the room looking at her green striped walls and large brown bookcases filled with more books than Newt had ever seen.
Next to the bookcases there was a cabinet with a silver framed picture on top, Newt wandered over and picked up the picture. It was a photo of young Tina and Queenie smiling. Behind them was a young man with brown hair, blue eyes, and a woman with blond hair, brown eyes and a kind smile.
"Tina's smile," Newt thought smiling as the people in the photo smiled back at him and waved.
Tina shifted in her sleep, Newt quickly put the photo down and went over to check on her. "No, Queenie, don't leave me...please don't go," Tina mumbled in her sleep. Newt wished he could help her, to hold her, to reach out to her.
Suddenly Tina's eyes fluttered open, she screamed, not knowing that it was Newt and not some random male intruder she threw her pillow at him and he toppled over.
"Newt!" She said realizing that it was only him.
"SORRY!" he said getting up embarrassed, covering up his eyes, and running out of the room. But instead of running out the door,
he ran into the wall and fell down.
Tina stifled a giggle. He got up, hands still over his eyes and ran out of the room.

Tina got dressed and headed over to the kitchen to make breakfast, but found that Newt had already made them breakfast and was sitting at the table reading the paper.
When he saw Tina he blushed and looked down at his plate. Tina sat down and began to eat, Newt looked up, "um, I'm so sorry for going into your bedroom without your permission Tina," he said still blushing, "I was worried that you were-"
"Newt," Tina interrupted, "It's fine, don't worry about it." Tina smiled and began to eat her breakfast. Newt was still blushing and began to eat as well.
"I'm going to head over to Jacob's bakery to see if Queenie went there this morning before work," Tina said standing up and putting her plate in the sink, "Would you like to come?" She asked.
"Oh no thank you, I actually have some work I have to do in the case I wanted to get done today." Newt said also standing up and putting his plate in the sink. "Alright then," Tina replied putting on her coat "I'll be home around six," she said walking out the door.
Newt waved and headed over to the couch to get his case.
