Chapter 13

Tina was fast asleep on the couch, Queenie had fixed up her injuries and had given her some sleeping potion to help her sleep. Tina had insisted that Newt stay with her while she slept, he had agreed not wanting her to be alone either. Newt stroked her hair for a few minutes then began to think.

What if Grindelwald really is after him? 

If he's after me, then I can't be here, I could be putting my friends and Tina in danger.

Newt thought quickly getting up, grabbing his case then heading to the door.

"Newt..Where are you going?"

He stopped, his hand rested upon the doorknob.

"Where are you going?" Tina repeated

He turned around to see Tina's sleepy face looking back at him. He turned away, "I can't stay here Tina, I'm a danger to you and Queenie and Jacob and Jamie," he rambled, "And I could never live with myself if you get hurt-"

Newt stopped, he felt Tina's warm arms wrap around his waist. She leaned her head on his back and spoke softly, "Newt, you don't need to worry about us, we can all take care of ourselves."she said, yawning. Newt's heart warmed, he led Tina back to the couch where she was quickly falling back asleep, "Promise me," she said, "You won't leave," Newt smiled,

"i won't Tina, I promise."

Tina smiled then fell asleep in Newts arms.

Queenie awoke to see her sister and Newt sleeping together on the couch, his arms were hugging protectively around her and Tina's hands rested upon his chest. She smiled and pulled up a blanket on the couple. She kissed her sister softly on the forehead and trudged back to her room.

"Newt! Letter for you!" Tina called from the shed, Newt rushed over from the bowtruckle habitat carrying Pickett on one shoulder and Sam on the other. "Oh great, I've been expecting this." He took the letter and opened it, reading it with a great smile on his face. "What's the letter about?" Tina said confused, "Well you know how I've been worried that now Grindelwald's on the loose he might come after the case and you guys," he said walking to the shed with Tina trailing behind him, she nodded. "Well I asked an old buddy of mine from my travels if we could stay at his place in England until this whole Grindelwald thing blows over, and he said yes." Newt said excitedly, then stopping,

"I mean, only, if it's okay with you, Queenie, Jacob." Tina smiled then gave him a big hug. "Yes of course, I mean you'll have to ask Queenie and Jacob, but it's okay with me." Tina said smiling. Newt drew out a breath of relief then smiled, "Well pack your bags Ms Goldstein, the boat leaves tomorrow!" He said excitedly kissing her on the forehead, Tina laughed and followed him out of the case to go tell Queenie and Jacob the good news.

"Oh wow!" Queenie gasped at the sights, "This is amazing!" She had Jamie in a stroller, and Jacob by the arm, "It is isn't it?" Newt said coming off the boat with Tina by his side, "Well this is it, this is home." Queenie smiled,

"Well c'mon Newt, aren't you going to show us around?"

The day progressed with Newt showing his friends around the town and eventually ending the day with arriving at the apartment.

"Newt!" A young man yelled from the door, Newt ran up to him, giving him a brotherly hug. "It's been too long Harold!" Newt laughed, then turning to the group, "Harold, these are my good friends Queenie, Jacob, their son Jamie, and Ti-"

Harold unexpectedly sauntered up to Tina and kissed her hand, "and who might this positively smashing lady be?" he said seductively with a wink. Tina turned red, "um, ah, er.."

Queenie giggled, Newt was standing at the top of the staircase with his mouth open and face red.

"She's Newt's boyfriend, right Teenie?" Queenie said still giggling.

Harold looked surprised, "Girlfriend?!" He said looking at Newt with a bemused expression, "well you finally had the guts didn't you." he laughed heartily and Newt blushed some more. "Well, enjoy your stay." Harold said handing Newt the keys and headed off. Newt and Tina blushed some more as Queenie continued to giggle, Newt lead the group up the stairs to the apartment. "Woah," Jacob whistled impressed, "Nice place your friend has Newt," Tina and Queenie set down their suitcases and looked around. "It's perfect!" Tina said in awe, Newt smiled.

"Hey little guy," Jacob said to Petal, the baby mooncalf as she rubbed up against his leg, he laughed. Jacob always loved to come down to the case to help Newt feed the creatures, it was always so magical and amazing in here, he always felt happy when he was in the case. More mooncalfs began to circle around him as he began to throw food into the air, he watched amazed as they stopped in midair and laughed as the creatures jumped up and ate them with smiles on their face. Newt watched from a distance, he was happy to see a smile on Jacob's face as he fed the creatures.

Pickett poked his head out of his pocket and began to squeak at Newt, "Oh, what is it Pickett?" he asked letting the bowtruckle climb out if his jacket pocket and onto his hand as they walked together to the shed, leaving Jacob with the mooncalfs. Pickett squeaked excitedly and held up an ad for a new restaurant in diagon alley, then pointed to a picture of Tina that Newt had put on his desk.

Newt blushed slightly, realizing what the bowtruckle was implying. "No no no, I can't, what if I mess up, what if I embarrass her?!" Newt said nervously, Pickett squeaked in protest.

"Hey, what are you two talking about," Jacob said walking over and placing the bucket of mooncalf feed beside the shed door. Pickett squeaked at Jacob, pointing to the sign, then to the picture of Tina, Jacob laughed,

"Are you getting your creatures to plan your dates for you Newt?" he said chuckling as Newt ducked his head in embarrassment.

"No, to tell the truth, i have never been on a date before." Newt said embarrassed, Jacob looked amused, "So you want some tips for your date with Tina?" Newt blushed, "I haven't even asked her, I don't even know if i'm going" he said sitting down on the stair steps. Jacob sat down next to him, "hey man, you'll be great, you love Tina and she loves you," Newt's ears perked up, "what?" he said, Jacob let out a chortle and raised an eyebrow. "perks of being married to a legitimus," he said and Newt blushed. "Now c'mon, go up there and ask Tina," Jacob said standing up and pushing him towards the ladder. Newt smiled and climbed up the stairs, Jacob shook his head fondly,

"These kids,"

"Tina?" Newt called, "In here Newt," she called from the bedroom, Newt walked in as Tina finished putting away her socks in the drawer.

"What's wrong?" she asked noticing his arms tensing and his nervous expression, "Ah, er, nothing." he said. "Newt-" she started but he then blurted out,

"Will you go on a date with me?" Tina looked surprised at the sudden outburst, Newt looked down at his shoes embarrassed,

"I mean, uh you don't have to, uh, I, i'm sorry i'll just go," he said rushing to get out of this awkward situation.

"No, Newt," Tina grabbed his hand and he turned to face her beaming smile, "I'd love to go out with you," Newt breathed a sigh of relief, "Oh fantastic!" he said, face lighting up.

"Tonight?" she said still smiling brightly,

"Yes, tonight,' Newt said smiling just as well,

Tina leant in to give his a kiss when they heard an excited girly squeal from behind the door. They both opened the door to reveal a sheepish Queenie, "Er, hello," she said giggling nervously under her sister's death glare. "Just cleaning," Queenie slowly backed away laughing nervously.
