"Hiya Jamie!" Cried Emily, now five years old, running to the door where a six year old Jamie and Queenie stood.
"Hi Emily!" Jamie responded smiling, Emily grabbed his hand and pulled him away from his mother. "C'mon I havta show you something!"
The two children laughed as they ran outside to the backyard. Queenie smiled happily reading their thoughts as she walked into the kitchen. "Hey Queenie," Tina said bustling in the kitchen, hair frizzy and some flour on her nose.
Queenie leant over and saw her sister struggling to make an apple pie, "You know Teen, you could just use magic." Queenie stated ignoring her sister's glare. "I tried," Tina sighed, "but i'm no good at food spells, last time I tried to make some strudel for Newt it literally BLEW UP!"
Queenie giggled skating over the memory in her sister's mind. "Queenie.." Tina said in a warning tone looking at her sister, "sorry Teen," Queenie shrugged.
The two women looked up as Newt walked into the kitchen with a stack of cookbooks. "I got the cookbooks!" Newt declared from behind the mountain of books. Tina grabbed a few from the top so that Newt's face could be seen, he looked at Queenie surprised, "Oh, hello Queenie, didn't see you there." he said smiling sheepishly. Queenie laughed, "You know you two could've just asked me, I'd be happy to help." she said.
Their conversation was interrupted by a scream from the backyard, Jamie came bursting through the door and raced into his mother's arms, "Mommy mommy! There's this furry thing outside! And it's got Emily!" he cried
Newt and Tina shot out of the kitchen with Queenie and Jamie quickly on their tails, "Emily!" Tina called out, Newt pointed to the bushes where Emily was wrestling with something orange and furry. They ran to their daughter and pulled them apart, Newt held the mysterious orange thing while Tina pulled her daughter away and held her tight. "Emily! Oh Mercy Lewis are you alright?!" Tina checked her over for any signs of injury but there weren't any. Emily was perfectly fine, she blinked at her mother,
"Mummy... what are you doing?" she asked, Tina looked up at the "monster" to only see that it was a Kneazle.
"-Bit harmless really, Kneazles are quite intelligent and independent but occasionally aggressive, although if it takes a liking to a certain witch or wizard then they make wonderful house pets-" Newt was explaining to Jamie, who (much like his father) was staring at the creature in disbelief and awe.
Emily let go of her mother's hand to join Newt and the Kneazle. Tina walked over to get a better look at the Kneazle, it had big bat-like ears, long whiskers, orange fur, and a lion's tail. Overall, it looked kinda cute. Newt and Emily looked up at Tina with big, hopeful eyes and said,
"Can we keep him?!"
They named the Kneazle Milly. Emily chose it, she and Milly got along wonderfully. Milly enjoyed running around, warm milk, and sleeping on Newt's feet. She was a wonderful pet and seemed to like Emily the most out of the three.
Tina was sleeping peacefully when she was awoken by shouting and a large crash from the hall. She shot up, Newt did the same. Just as she was about to grab her wand and investigate, Emily burst through the door and jumped on the bed screaming. "MUMMY DADDY LOOK! IT'S SNOWING!" She screeched happily climbing on top of the two of them with a wide grin on her face. "Can we go outside pleaseeeeeeee." she pleaded, Newt and Tina exchanged a glance then smiled, Emily let out a cry of joy.
After putting on their jackets and scarfs, the Scamander family trudged outside to the snow covered field. Every few seconds Emily would cry out "Geronimooo!" and fall face first into the snow, then climb out giggling with snow clinging to her short, curly red hair.
