Emily Scamander (now 11 years old) was shakily steering her cart filled with her school trunk, Owl (a birthday present from Hazel) school supplies, textbooks, and her own personal copy of Fantastic beasts. Beside her were Newt and Tina, leading her through the crowds.
"So.. where is this place again?" Tina asked looking around at the trains in the station. Newt just smiled
"Soon," he said secretly.
Finally he stopped them as they arrived at the barrier between platform 9 and 10. Newt stopped and looked at the barrier like a king, Emily and Tina exchanged a glance as he just stood there grinning at it like an idiot.
"Er, Dad..." Emily spoke up, "Where's the platform?" Newt turned to face her and pointed straight at the wall, "Right... There!" he said gesturing to the wall once more "Just run straight into the wall and you'll arrive on time."
Emily's eyes widened, "You want me to run... into a wall?!" she exclaimed horror struck. Newt looked into her green eyes, identical to his, "Emily, trust me." he said, she slowly nodded her head, took a deep breath, and started to run.
Where there should have the sound of a dull thud and the pain of her skull cracking, there was a long dark tunnel and the smell of burning coal filled her nostrils. At the end of the tunnel there was a light, she raced towards it, she was out!
Emily blinked her eyes to get adjusted to the new surroundings and was met with wonder. Owls flew past her head as she gaped at the sight, young witches and wizards of all ages were huddled around the station, some where greeting old friends, others were trying to find their way around. But in the middle of all that stood a giant red and black train, on the front it read
"Hogwarts Express"
A sudden gasp came from behind her, Emily turned to see her parents emerge from the wall, Newt was laughing, and Tina seemed to have been holding her breath. But once her eyes caught sight of the giant locomotive her mouth dropped, Newt chuckled at her reaction and helped Emily steer her cart to where Queenie, Jacob, Jamie and Alice could be seen. They were accompanied by Theseus and his pregnant wife, Clara.
"Hey Newt! Tina! Em! Over here!" Jacob called over to them waving jovially, with a proud smile on his lips making his mustache curl upwards. "Hello Jacob," Newt said cheerfully, "Got in alright?" Jacob puffed out his chest, "Yup, second time's a charm I always say." he chortled.
(First time Jacob ran through the wall he screamed like a girl the whole way, Queenie had to put a silencing charm on him so he wouldn't attract attention from the Muggles)
"Ready for your second year at Hogwarts Jamie?" Tina asked her nephew, Jamie nodded "I can't wait! This year I get to try out for the Gryffindor Quidditch team!" he said excitedly.
"EXCUSE ME! SORRY, OH PARDON, MIND THE HAT, SORRY! COMING THROUGH! SORRY, PARDON!"
Newt sighed good naturally turning around to see Hazel colliding with students, parents and sometimes birds.
One of the owls didn't see her and flew right into her face, she screamed and tumbled to the ground. "Ger off! Ger off!" she shouted, Emily laughed as Newt went over to rescue his mother. "Alright you two," he sighed, "break it up, c'mon now." Newt managed to peel the owl off of Hazel's face and return him to it's angry owners.
Henry helped Hazel get up, once spotting the owner's of the unfortunate owl she began to scold them.
"You people should really take more responsible care for your owl! He needs to watch where he's going that bird could have killed me! ... oh.. Oh it's a girl?! Well that STILL doesn't change the fact that your bird-"
"Okay mother that's enough," Newt said sighing, "I'm really sorry," he said waving to the couple. The crowd began to part, "What are you looking at?!" she said harshly to a group of lingering third year's, they quickly scattered.
"Hello everyone!" Hazel said smiling brightly at the rest of the family. Theseus shook his head, "Mother one of these days your klutziness will become the death of you," he said slightly chuckling, Hazel smiled looping her arms around her two sons, "As long as I have my two boys to pick me back up when I fall I will NEVER DIE!" she said smiling and laughing.
The train whistle blew, signaling that the train would depart the station in five minutes. "I should get going, need to get a compartment." Jamie said hugging his mother, father and Alice farewell. He waved goodbye as he sprinted onto the train.
Hazel turned to face Emily and placed her hands on her granddaughters shaking shoulders, "Alright Em, chin up, back straight. There's a good girl." she said smiling, "And don't worry about making friends Em, if you are anything like your parents, people will like you for who you are." she said gesturing to her heart. Emily nodded as Hazel pulled her in close for a hug.
Once they pulled apart, Newt and Tina walked over to their only daughter and clutched her tight. Emily's eyes began to water, "I'll miss you guys," she croaked. Tina began to stroke her curly orange hair lovingly, "We'll miss you too Em," she sniffed pulling back to stare at her daughter's wonderful big brown eyes. Newt attempted a weak smile, "The house is going to be much too quiet without you there." he told her, Emily chuckled. She turned to her father, "You think there will be any adventures in Hogwarts dad?" she asked, he smiled "Em, wherever you go there is always an adventure waiting." he said wisely.
The train whistle blew a final time, it was time to leave.
Emily hugged her parents one last time, "Promise you'll write?" she asked, then pulling away to look at the rest of her family, "All of you?"
Everyone nodded, Emily smiled satisfied. She grabbed her trunk and hauled it up onto the train, as it began to move she grabbed hold of one of the bars and hoisted herself up onto the moving locomotive. Turning to face her the sad faces of her parents and family, she smiled bravely and waved goodbye.
As they watched Emily get on the the moving train and wave goodbye, Newt wrapped his arm around Tina's waist as she leant on his shoulder. They stood there in that position staring as the red and black dot faded away into the distance.
"Thank you," Newt whispered, Tina looked up at him, "What for?" she asked. He smiled "For giving me a family." Newt replied looking her with love in his bright green eyes, "For giving me your love, Emily, friends," he listed as Tina's smile grew wider and wider, "You truly are a Giver Tina."
She grinned, a dimple appearing on her cheek.
It seemed that Queenie had been right, "She was a Taker, You need a Giver..." she had said to him inside the case years back. He had kept hold of those words for a long time trying to figure out what they meant, it wasn't until he had come back to give Tina her copy of Fantastic beasts when he had finally realized what Queenie meant.
They heard the train whistle blow from off in the distance, Tina sighed content. "Let's go home." she said, Newt nodded as they walked off the platform hand in hand.
"Yes," Newt thought to himself
"A Giver is just what I need."
