The next day, I was so bothered about the black note and the weird voice I heard the entire day, that I didn't even remember that my place had been changed.
Ashley came up to me stomping her feet on the way. "Why are you so obsessed? Why can't you just give up?" She asked.
I didn't understand what she meant by that because I was too engrossed in thinking about the book and the voice and gave her a questioning look.
"Ughh! Don't act all innocent! Your place is there." She pointed her hand to my left and it was then that I realized that I no longer sat next to Adrien, but Eric.
I went and sat next to Eric and looked at him and made an innocent face. "Sorry. I'm still used to that place." I said.
"No problem. I get confused myself sometimes when my place gets changed." He said.
"But your place never got changed."
"Before you came, my place had been changed quite many times." He replied nervously. I knew he was lying, but I let it go and instead gave him a smile.
"So, did we have any homework for today?" I asked as I opened my agenda.
"Math sums, English essay, and to stay strong." He said and smiled at me.
"I've completed all that. So I don't need to worry." I said. "Oh and where's Adrien?"
"He must be walking by himself in the corridor or maybe Mr. Watson must have called him again."
"Oh, okay then." I said.
"So, what do you do when you're free? Do you have a hobby?" I asked.
"Why are you asking all of a sudden?" He asked.
"Well, we don't know each other that well, and I thought it's better if I got to know you a little more."
"I mostly study. But if I'm free, I like going to the arcade and playing video games."
"Really? What kind?" I asked.
"Racing." He replied. "Would you want to come and play some games at the arcade with me?" He asked.
"Sure! I haven't played a video game before, so could you teach me?" I asked.
"Of course." He said.
"What time shall I meet you then?" I asked.
"Whenever you want." He replied.
"Don't you have to study?"
"I can do that later as well. What time?"
"At 5?"
"Perfect." He said.
"What's perfect?" Adrien asked as he came and sat in his place.
"Hey! Where were you?" I asked.
"Did you search for me?" He asked smiling. I saw Eric rolling his eyes from the corner of my eyes.
"Will you answer my question if I say yes?" I asked, ignoring Eric's reaction.
"Maybe." He replied as he opened his books.
"Yes. I was. Now tell me, where did you go?"
"I just went for a stroll. I was feeling bored."
"But you said that you would stay next to me!" I whined.
Adrien looked at Eric and said, "Someone else wanted to protect you too. So I thought of giving him a chance."
Eric looked down at his book with a serious expression and said, "I wasn't that desperate. I had to give you a piece of my mind when I saw how careless you were."
