Jean's P.O.V
My heart began to beat faster, almost vibrating my chest as I ran down the metal hallway in the basement. My sneakers clapped harshly on the silver flooring, echoing through the emptiness in screams. My hair was swinging behind me, occasionally flying into my face, but I didn't care. Not when I could feel her presence in my mind even stronger. Not when I was summoned down to the medical room about her.
I skidded to a halt in front of the sliding door, my palms sweating as my legs began to shake. I gasped in a breath, pushing the button to open the door before stepping inside slowly.
The lights were dimmer than usual, one of them broken. The glass from the bulb littered the floor in shards, shimmering in the dull lighting. I drew my eyes from the dangerous crystals up to the restrained brunette. Bile rose in my throat as I stepped closer, Scott's arm keeping me from getting too close.
He and I had grown rather close in just a year. We both shared the heartbreak over Beth, sharing the mourning and tears as well. Scott had become like a rock to me, always there when I was in need of company.
He looked down at me, a sad smile on his face as he shook his head. "The Professor said she's too dangerous until we figure out what's going on..."
"So why are we here?" I asked, my eyes looking to my father.
"I thought you three ought to know." He explained, not taking his eyes off of the unconscious form in front of us.
Hank continued to look over her features, his lips pursing when she twitched a finger.
I backed away, not knowing what else to do at this very moment. I felt Scott's hand grasp mine tightly, lacing our fingers together.
A groan sounded through the small room before Beth lifted her head up with her eyes barely open. "Where am I?"
"Pardon?" Hank asked with a raised brow.
"I don't remember coming here..." She whined, going to put a hand to her head before realizing she was chained to the chair. "Oh come on, guys. What the hell is this?" Her eyes looked over the four of us, coming to a halt and lowering down towards mine and Scott's intertwined hands. "Good thing we're not blood, huh Scottyboy?" Beth said with an emotionless chuckle, causing him to drop my hand. "Why the hell am I tied up, Xavier?"
"Why don't you tell me?" He asked with a raised eyebrow, wheeling closer to his wife.
I saw something flash in her eyes, something dark and different from the normal sparkle she held in them. I back away again, my throat closing tightly.
"I'm not sure what you're getting at, baby." Beth said with a smirk before wincing slightly.
I gasped, talking a step forward. I locked eyes with her, my heart growing faster and faster with each second that passed. "Mom...?"
A scowl formed on Beth's face, making my heart sink a little. "Oh, Jeanie, Jeanie, Jeanie." She cooed.
I swallowed hard, my throat becoming dry. I stepped forward farther, my hand barely touching her knee before sudden flashes of her memories filled my head. I screamed in pain, my eyes filling with tears as Hank pulled me away from her. "I-it's not her fault." I breathed out, my hands finding their way to my chest. "Her powers are out of control. They're what brought her back!" I shouted before looking back down to my mother. "Y-...you hurt her."
"Oh pfft!" Beth chuckled, her eyes closing happily. "I barely touched her. All I did was throw her to the wall."
"Who? Threw who against the wall? Who is 'she'." Scott asked confused.
"What? You guys never knew Hank had a sister? She's banging Erik!" Beth squealed with delight, her feet tapping the ground rather loud. "Oh that's not even the best part-"
"Beth, be quiet." Hank warned, backing away from her.
"Hank." She said with a grin. "Haaaaank! Hank! Hey, Hank!" She waited for a reply that never came, all he gave her was a cold glare. She growled, an angry look on her face. "It's not his baby. Is it? Benjamin. It's that pretty boy's baby! Right? Am I right?"
Hank looked over at her, my head tilting at the confusing display in front of me. He nodded, storming out of the room with long strides.
"Yay! Do I get my ice cream now?" She giggled.
"What the hell is going on in her head right now..." Scott asked, terrified of whatever the hell was sitting in front of us right now.
I shook my head slowly. "I don't think you wanna know."
A/N: Chapter won't be confusing forever, I promise!
