"Do you ever wonder how life would have been if I hadn't gone with Erik?" I asked from my spot next to Charles as we were sprawled out on the queen sized bed.
"Thank you for bringing this up after sex, darling." Charles said sarcastically. "But yes, I do. Why?"
"I don't know. I was just thinking." I paused, rolling over so my back was to him. "I probably wouldn't have given our daughter away, for one."
"We might not have a daughter if you stayed."
"With all the times we've shagged since then, I doubt that." I sighed, burying my face in my pillow. The bed shook a bit and I suddenly felt Charles's chest pressed against my back. "What." I whined.
He chuckled, the sound rumbling my back. "Beth, look at me." I obeyed, turning my head back to look up at him. "The past is the past, alright? It's like I told you when we first met. The past doesn't define you, love." He paused, pressing a kiss to my shoulder. "What matters is that you're here now. We're together after running circles around each other for almost twenty fucking years." Charles joked.
"Language." I grumbled.
"You've said worse." He shot back before capturing my lips with his own.
I returned the sign of affection, turning to face him so it was more comfortable for the two of us. I ran a hand through his hair, smirking when he gave a little moan. I pulled away, a triumphant look on my face.
"I hate you." Charles said quietly, his eyes never leaving mine.
"I hate you too, dear." I replied before kissing him again.
NOW
I broke myself out of my daydream, the memory of that day bringing a smile to my face as I still sat on the bench in the yard, Scott now long gone.
The smile dropped when a sharp pain surged through my stomach, making me audibly gasp. I clutched the pain in hopes that it would help, but it just got worse. I began to feel something wet on my hands and pulled them away, a confused look on my face. I looked down at them and felt my stomach churn at the sight.
I was... Bleeding?
I felt my nose begin to bleed as well and my body went numb. I looked behind me to the bench to see a spot of blood there as well. My legs grew shaky and weak before I eventually fell to the ground.
My brain finally realized what was happening and I choked out a sob as I lay in the grass, the sun getting lower as the time passed.

I smirked at his worried face as I clenched my fists and began spreading my arms. He screamed in agony as the wings were being ripped out of him. I gave an emotionless chuckle. "I don't like doing this anymore than you like receiving it!" My joy of having the upper hand was cut short when a sharp pain split through my back and out my stomach.
--
"Beth!" Scott practically yelled. Kurt appeared with Hank and ran up to the front, looking back at me worried. I heard him order Moira to get us out of here and shuffle back over to us. "Beth what the hell happened?!"
I breathed out a laugh and threw my head back against one of the seats. "Bitch with the sword happened. I was trying to stop that guy with the wings and she just comes up and stabs me." I sighed and squinted, running my tongue against the back of my front teeth. "I'll be fine, Scott. Worse things have happened to me."
--
I spread my arms out at my sides and closed my eyes, feeling the energy and powers flow through me before I opened them to show their purple irises. I threw my arms towards Apocalypse and assisted Erik in attacking him. I watched as the purple energy flew towards him and impacted his shield. I began screaming when a splitting pain ran through my head while I overworked myself. I felt blood dribble out of my nose and tears fall from my eyes as I pushed harder and harder in attempt to defeat him, but he was too much and I began sliding backwards at the force of his shield, which only made me fight harder.
I clenched my teeth and curled my hands into fists, watching my powers wrap around Apocalypse and start to penetrate his shield. I heard Jean screaming behind me as a fire like energy made impact with him, beginning to tear him apart.
Erik threw more metal at him, this time striking his body, while I made my attack stronger to help my daughter. Scott once again used his mutation against Apocalypse now that it would weaken him, and he screamed in agony at the power of our combined forces.
A purple bubble type thing formed around him and Hank walked up next to me. "He's getting away..." Lightening suddenly struck into Apocalypse and I looked up to see the girl with the weather Mutation assisting us.
"All... is revealed..." Apocalypse said quietly before we all strengthened our attacks even more, if that was even possible. I grimaced as his skin began tearing away in flakes, as did his flesh on the inside, before he was nothing and we all stopped our attacks.
Erik dropped down to the ground slowly and I smiled at him, receiving one back. I opened my mouth to say something, only to fall over and land on my back once I hit the ground.
"Beth!" Erik said frantically, making his way over.
Scott and Hank ran over, as did Raven.
Scott knelt down quickly and took me into his arms. "Those glasses better not fall off of your head." I mumbled with a weak smile. "Sorry but..." I trailed off to cup my hand to his cheek. "I might be about to break that promise I made to you on the plane.."
Scott shook his head furiously, a tear falling down his cheek from behind his sunglasses. "No, you're going to be fine." He countered.
I choked out a sob, feeling my body shutting down. "I over did it."
"You always over do it..." He joked in an emotionless tone.
"Yeah but this time-" I was cut off mid sentence as I coughed up a little blood. "-This time that's happening." I pointed to the crimson liquid on the dirt covered ground. "Funny.. My story with you starts with me near death." I chuckled as more tears fell from my eyes once my vision grew blurry. "And now it's ending with it."
"Don't say that..." He whispered, his lip quivering and his hold around my waist tightening.
"I'm sorry. I'm really sorry..." I breathed out as I took my last breath, my hand falling from his face, becoming motionless in his arms.
NOW
I continued to sob, all of my energy going into trying to communicate with someone-anyone- to come and help me.
I died once already, I really didn't feel like doing it again...
"Please... Someone... Please hear me..."
I stared up at the darkening sky, my breathing and heart rate becoming slower as each second passed. I tried to scream for help, but all that came was a croak.
I was beginning to struggle in keeping my eyes open, my sobs slowly dying down at the same time.
"Please, Charles... Jean... Someone..."
I watched the sky above me through blurred vision, a weak smile appearing when I saw a bird fly overhead. Black spots began to appear as my whole body lost all feeling.
What the hell was happening to me... Did I do something to anger whatever kept me alive before? Is that why the wounds from that day reappeared?
My brain began to swim with endless thoughts while the seconds that passed felt like hours and the minutes felt like years.
"Beth?!"
That was the last thing I heard before losing all consciousness.
