"I don't understand? What the hell is happening to her?!" Who?

"I found her like this, I don't know!" Found who like what? Where the hell am I?

"Charles?" Silence. "Charles! We need you over here. She needs you." Who's talking?

"Beth..." Yes? "Please.. don't leave us again...don't leave me again." Charles? Charles where am I? "You've fought through so much. Please don't give up now." Why can't I see anything? Charles?! Where are we? Charles... please answer me.

"After Alex and after what happened to her in that battle..." Scott started with a shake of his head. "You know I never thought I'd have to live through this again. This fear of not knowing." A scoff followed before something collided with the metal wall, shattering into hundreds of pieces. Scott let out a long breath, his hands grabbing at his hair and pulling before he slid his back down the wall so he was sat on the floor. Quiet sobs escaped him as he sat there, his head buried into his knees.

Jean stepped towards him, a hand reaching out. "Scott, I know how hard this is for you but-"

"Like hell you do." Scott hissed. "You weren't even close to her and now you suddenly care? Why? Because you found out that you're her daughter? So what! She left you! She gave you away at the first chance she had, Jean! I've known her my whole life, from birth. That isn't really something you can relate to." He raged, his cracking voice turning into an angry shout. He knew he was being harsh, but she couldn't possibly understand. Could she?

Jean was quick to pull her hand away, unshed tears filling her eyes. "I understand that you're upset and that you're not sure how to cope with this after all the two of you have been through together, but you don't have the right to take it out on me like an asshole." She pointed out before storming out of the room. Scott frowned and tucked his head back into his knees, a cloud of guilt now hanging over his head.

Charles sighed while he sat beside his wife, his hands in her's as his eyes were closed. His stomach was churning with each passing moment without her voice ripping through the silence that hung so thickly in the air above them.

He should be used to this by now. They all should be... After all, she was thought to be dead for a year. But then she came back and everything felt right again. Like the times where he was without her were just horrible dreams he had when he's had a bit too much to drink before bed.

Like she had never left him on that beach to be with Erik. Just like she left the mansion after their first time making love. That maybe the whole mess that got her into the Pentagon was some made up story. Or that she hadn't gotten hurt when they were saving him from En Sabah Nur.

He swallowed the lump that had formed in his throat, knowing that feeling all too well these days. Charles was about to leave to regain his sanity when he felt something prying at the inside of his mind. He opened his eyes slightly, letting them roam over the woman for a moment before the prying got more intense. "Beth?" He had whispered into her ear, unsure if he wanted the young Summers to hear.

Images flooded through Charles's head, his heart aching at each one

Images flooded through Charles's head, his heart aching at each one. She was showing him things he had never seen before... The things she had locked away from him. He shuddered slightly, his thumb stroking over the back of her hand as he sat there speechless.

"She's weak. She fell in love far too easily."

Charles closed his eyes again, his eyebrows knitting together. "Who's weak?"

"The girl in front of you." There was a pause as the disembodied voice gave a short chuckle. "Our lovely little Beth."

"Beth, wha-"

"Beth is away at the moment, Chuck. Leave a message."

Charles frowned, his blood boiling. "What's happening?"

"Haven't you ever wondered how a teenager who barely had control over her powers managed to take out two grown men?" Another chuckle. "I've always been inside of our dear Bethany. She just didn't know it until that lovely day in Egypt."

"Who or what are you?" He hissed.

"I'm The Enchantress. I'm Beth... Only better."

Just like that, the connection between the two of them was ripped away as Charles sat there with worry stabbing him in the chest.

Beth's chest began to rise and fall once more, her hand in Charles's own twitching a bit at the sudden feeling of contact. She let out a few small coughs before she opened her eyes. "I didn't hurt anyone this time, did I?"

Scott's head shot up at the sound of her voice, unaware of the conversion Charles just had with her as he quickly made his way over to cradle her head in his hands. "No, you're alright. Just a little injury to yourself." Charles watched cautiously, his hand falling into his lap as he did so.

Beth darted her eyes between the two males in front of her, a strange and unfamiliar smile forming. "Well, that's better than what was happening before." She said before pulling her adoptive brother into her arms for a hug. "I'm sorry I keep doing this to you." She whispered. "But a girl's gotta get some beauty rest." Beth hissed as she pulled away before using her powers to push him across the room.

Scott practically flew through the air before colliding with the wall, making a loud thud echo through the room before he fell face first to the ground unconscious.

She sat up from the table she was on and pushed the doors open with her mind. She looked to Charles for a moment, her eyes narrowing as she contemplated what to do with him. Beth snarled before turning and walking away, not bothering herself with such a thing.

She made her way out of the basement, the lights flickering above her as she walked which caused some of the students to turn around confused before she pushed all of them out of the way, trails of purple following them.

"Don't do this." A voice warned from behind her.

Beth turned, her eyes glaring at the redhead in front of her.

"This isn't you." Jean continued, walking closer to the telepath with careful steps. "I don't know what's going on inside of you, but you have to fight it."

Beth frowned, her eyes growing soft despite their still glowing appearance. She stepped forward to meet her daughter halfway, her hand reaching out slowly. "I don't know what's happening to me..."

Jean nodded in understanding. "Remember what you said to me in the kitchen? Just try to control it."

Beth titled her head, a smile gracing her lips. "Here's the thing, sweetheart. I don't wanna fight it." She said before pushing Jean up to the ceiling, watching in satisfaction as she fell into a heap on the floor. "Fight that."
