Chapter 21

Nolan

"You know what I want to do?" Jerome asked as he walked into the kitchen while I was making breakfast. "Dye my hair again. I miss having colorful hair."

"What color do you want to do this time?" I asked.

"I'm thinking blue," he said. "Like, a really deep blue."

"You should totally do it," I said. "You looked hot with purple hair. You'll probably look just as hot with blue hair."

"Aww, you're so sweet," Jerome said, walking up behind me and kissing my cheek. "So, what are you making?"

       "Your favorite."

"Chocolate crepes? With whipped cream? And strawberries."

       "Yes."

"Have I ever told you how much I love you?"

"All the time," I said before turning around to face him, then giving him a hug. "Happy birthday."

"Thank you, husband," he said with a smile.

"Are you just going to emphasize husband every single day now?" I asked.

"Uh, of course," he said. "We just got married. I'm in a really happy and lovey-dovey mood. I'm going to emphasize husband all I want."

That made me smile. I honestly never thought I would ever get married when I was eighteen. In fact, I didn't think I would get married so shortly after my eighteenth birthday, but I was glad I was. Jerome knew exactly how to make me happy and after everything I went through in my teenage years, all I wanted was to be happy.

"Hey, you know what I could do now that I'm twenty-one?" Jerome asked.

"I swear, if you say legally drink, I'm going to leave you."

"Well, never mind then. I was only going to be joking when I say that. I don't really like getting drunk anyway."

"Yeah, it's a hassle taking care of you, Mr. Mind Reader."

"I'm an excellent drunk mind reader."

I rolled my eyes and turned back to the stove to pour another batter of crepes on the pan. Jerome, however, decided to distract me by wrapping his arms around my waist and pressing kisses on my neck.

He was definitely in the lovey-dovey mood.

"You know, if you don't want me to burn the crepes, I suggest you stop distracting me," I said.

Jerome sighed and rested his chin on my shoulder. "But I love you."

"I love you too," I said. "But I'm starving and really don't want to burn these crepes."

"Fine," Jerome said. "But we're totally kissing later." He kissed my cheek before going to the cupboard where the dishes were and grabbing two plates and two glasses. He got the silverware out, as well as the strawberries. He then started chopping the strawberries into small pieces.

"You know, I was going to do all that since it is your birthday," I said.

"I know," he said. "But you have to pay close attention to the crepes if you want to get it perfect, so I thought I'd save time and chop the strawberries so we could start eating soon."

"Fair point," I said. "So....are you happy your dad is coming over for dinner?"

"Yeah," Jerome said. "I really never expected any of my parents to ever want me back in their life. He finally noticed that being gay isn't a choice and that I'm really in love with you. I'm happy he's actually choosing me for once."

I gave him a smile. "Yeah, me too. I hated seeing you so upset because of your parents. Now, you won't have to worry about it."

"Exactly," Jerome said. "Especially because my dad told me that my mom is moving back to Quebec once the divorce finalizes. I won't have to deal with her anymore. Ooh, you know what I haven't done for a few days?"

       "You change topics really fast."

"Yeah, whatever. I haven't vlogged in a few days. I think the last time I vlogged was four days ago."

       "Wow, so long."

"Uh, it is for me. My subscribers know why I haven't for a while because there was Christmas, then your birthday, then our wedding, and now my birthday."

"Don't you normally vlog on your birthday anyway?"

"Yeah, but I'm not going to today. Well, not all of today. I might do a quick update at night after everyone leaves."

Jerome finished chopping the strawberries right as the final crepe was made. Jerome got the whipped cream out while I set the table with the plates, glasses, and putting the crepes in the middle.

To top everything off, we were totally having chocolate milk to drink.

After we finished eating breakfast, Jerome and I got changed so we could head out to the store to pick up his cake for tonight. With my family, we always had to get the largest cake they sold, but there were always leftovers.

That Jerome ate for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

While we were there, Jerome ended up picking up blue hair dye. He was serious about dying his hair again, but I really didn't mind at all. He would look hot either way.

We were at the store for a while because we had to pick up a few other things and normally when we were at the store, Jerome had to look at every single thing and he was so indecisive.

So by the time we finally got out of the store, it was around noon. We quickly went back home to drop off what we bought because some was groceries that had to be refrigerated. We then decided to go out somewhere for lunch.

Jerome was craving pizza, so we went to a pizza place for lunch. After we had out meatlovers pizza, we sat down at one of the tables.

"Aww, this is our first time going out for lunch as husbands," Jerome said, and I rolled my eyes. All he was going to do was emphasize that one word.

"You really love pointing that out," I said.

"Because I love you," Jerome said before giving me a quick kiss.

I didn't even mind kissing him in public anymore. When we first started dating, I hated even going out with him in public because I didn't want to get bashed by random people.

But that was all they were. Random people. Their thoughts and actions weren't going to effect my life at all and if they really wanted to stoop so low to bash two people in love without knowing them, then that really said something about who they were.
