Inuyasha POV

I was waiting by Bone Eaters Well for Kagome to come back through. She'd been gone for an entire month now. Sango and Miroku were helping take care of the village. Shipo was here beside me playing with Kirara. I won't admit it much but I do really care for the little fox demon. How I act alone with him is different in front of the others.

When with the others I like to pick on him due to my nature. But when alone I watch after him and make sure he's well. I also help teach him to use a wooden sword to protect himself. I started to care of him in private when Kagome was gone. That's about when Shippo decided he liked being around me more. Shippo likes to call me his second Dad in private, and that actually makes me happy. He knows I act the way I do in front of people is because I don't want other demons to know my secret. Shippo is the only one that knows about it because he saw the mark.

I am whats known as a Bearer in the demon world. I am male through and through but I am able to bear children. Hence the name Bearer. Being tagged as a Bearer means you are going to give birth to a strong demon cub. Bearers are rare amongst demons and are known to be very strong. So far as I know I'm one of the only Bearers that is a hanyo. Which I am very proud of.

My mark is that of a dogs paw print in a circle right on my pelvis. You wouldn't even notice it unless you were up close to me. That being because my mark is white like my hair when I'm a demon, and black when I'm human. That's how Shippo found out my secret.

Shippo and I were on the outskirts of the village bathing when it turned night. Shippo used his fox fire to light up the area around us. When I got out to go get dressed that's when he saw it. At first Shippo hid the fact he saw it because he thought he was mistaken. But after seeing it again a few months later when it was just us two he asked me about it. I at first thought he laugh at me but instead hugged me. He then said "Don't worry Inuyasha I won't tell anybody! I make you that promise as a man!" He held out his small hand, with a small smile I shook his hand back. "Thanks Shippo."

After that I acted a little nicer towards Shippo in public. I cared deeply for Shippo as if he was my own child. And Shippo returned that feeling towards me.

I smiled as I watched Shippo play tag with Kirara. After a bit Kirara stopped and ran back towards the village. Sango must of called for her to return. Shippo came over to me and hopped onto my shoulder. "Have fun there kiddo?" I asked him patting his head. He nodded smiling big.

"Well that's good to hear. You hungry? We can go get some fish for dinner." I asked. He nodded as I sat up from the well and started walking towards the lake not to far away. I rolled up my sleeves and pants legs. Shippo started up a fire as I caught the fish. After a couple of minutes I caught a pounds worth of fish and cleaned them out. Shippo did help me gut a few of them. Once done we cooked up a few and put the rest in a big leaf and tied it up so they could dry out.

I gave the first one to Shippo who ate it up smiling. "Thanks Inuyasha!" He said smiling. I smiled back petting his head. We ate in silence till Shippo stopped and looked at me. That made me worried so I stopped and looked at him.

I pull him into my lap softly looking at him. "What's wrong Shrimp? You usually love eating all my fish." I asked worried. He grabbed onto my hand. "Inuyasha I want to tell everyone that I want you to be my Dad. You're the strongest demon I know and teach me a lot of things. I don't want to be anyone else's kid but yours and whoever becomes your mate." He said tightening his grip shaking softly. I let out a small sigh as I smile a little. This little fox sure knew how to work me.

"If that's what you want Shippo then I don't mind. After all it's just you and I from now on. I'm pretty sure Kagome and the others have left us to pursue their own lives. So you can call me whatever you want." I said as I pat his head gently. "And besides before I choose my mate you must except them as well. Since you're my child you must accept them as well before we have the ritual done anyway." That seemed to cheer Shippo right up nodding.

"Yay~!!! Thank you Dad. This means a lot to me." Said Shippo as he hugged my waist as best he could. I hugged him back smiling softly. "But I do have to ask you though. Are you okay with my mate being a male?" I asked as I looked down at him as a faint blush warms up my cheeks.

I've known now for the longest time why I can't keep a women beside me. I can love them but kissing them and being close to them makes me feel unloved. That's how I felt with Kikyo, then later Kagome. I know full on that Kagome loved me back but it didn't feel right, and I found out why. I like men more. Especially one in particular but I'm not going into details.

"I don't mind Dad. Whoever your mate, once I accept them, I won't care. And I think of it as I will have to males teach me so I'll become even stronger!" He declared. "Besides its normal for male demons to mate with other male demons. The demons for over 70 or more years don't care about mates of the same gender. Though you probably didn't know much about that due to the whole tree thing." He said.

Shippo was more into the demon culture than I was. Which was good it helped me out some. I was closer to humans and few demons tribes. One in particular was Kouga's tribe and Kaede's village.

"Good to know. Now before we set off for our new forever home. I want to say goodbye to Kaede."
