The New Moon Heat(1)

The following weeks became a blur to the young couple as they still tried to hide their relationship from others. It did become a bit easier since Himiko's return as she took Inuyasha in as a form of "extra aid" in the healer's dean. This was however only partially the truth, the real reason was to check over Inuyasha and make sure he was doing okay and to learn more about the pack. She also learned more about Inuyasha's life and travels. He would help Himiko during the day but set out with Kouga and the rest of the hunting pack to gather more supplies for the coming winter. They began to split the parties into picking fruits and mushrooms for one, another got more wood for the pact to share on even colder nights, and the main party got more meat. The pack has already started to fawn and accept Shippo and Inuyasha as one of their own and showed Inuyasha a lot of respect. This brought Kouga a lot of joy because even the Elders noticed this in the pack and have to recognize his hard work for them.

"Did you see the look on Kyoma's face today? He looked like he was going to explode in anger because the pack is taking to you so well only after a month." Said Kouga with a chuckle at the end as he laid back on his bed staring up at the ceiling. "You're telling me. If his glares could kill I'd be dead three times over by now. He does need to remove that stick up his ass and learn to chill. The other Elders seem to like me now since I do help you at times to go to the meeting and help them decide on certain things." Said Inuyasha as he walked over carrying two hot green teas over to Kouga. "Don't drink it right away but do hold onto it to help warm up your hands. Your team did go up more north than the rest of us so you need to warm up." Kouga nodded as he took the warm cup from Inuyasha smiling as the cup did indeed warm his hands up. His team was in charge of gathering some extra wood today and they went into the deeper part of the forest to the north to get more wood. With the amount they now have they should have plenty for the upcoming months.

"At least your plan is coming along smoothly and Lady Kiki will finally be leaving the den tomorrow. I will say she has been acting differently these past few days than what she normally did when it was close to her departure date." Sighed Kouga. Inuyasha tilted his head to the side some and looked at Kouga."What do you mean by that Kouga?" Asked a curious Inuyasha. Kouga took a sip of his tea before setting it down before he began to explain. "Normally that crazy woman would do just about anything to be by my side when she was getting ready to leave so that I would 'remember her scent' or 'will finally come to acknowledge the longing of her presents by my side'" At that Kouga shuttered and gagged a little. "Instead she's been oddly quiet and been staying with her sister. Not that I'm complaining since it's given me more time to be with you and help share your tales of honor with the pack. I did at times catch her listening to me talk about your deeds and she always seemed pleased to hear them. Which did kind of tick me off." Kouga growled.

At this Inuyasha hugged Kouga gently around the waist and nuzzled against his neck. Inuyasha has learned over the past few weeks with Kouga this was the fastest way to calm his Alpha down when angered. Upon Inuyasha doing this Kouga became to relax against Inuyasha sighing as he ran his fingers through his soon-to-be mate's hair. Kouga kissed Inuyasha's head before removing himself from Inuyasha. "Thanks for that Mutt, but I need to start getting the room ready for you tonight." Said Kouga as he made his way to start blocking off the entrance to his room. At this Inuyasha nodded. Tonight was the night of the New Moon and they made sure that they had returned early to Kouga's room with Shippo in tow to help protect Inuyasha. Kouga knew his pack wouldn't do anything to harm Inuyasha because they have chosen him to be a great warrior alongside their Alpha, but Kouga also knew of a few people in his pack who wanted to "have fun" with the half-demon. Kouga wasn't going to let that happen no matter the case because Inuyasha was his and this form was mainly for his eyes only. Himiko will later be allowed to see this form once the time is right and Inuyasha gets to know her more. Because if and when Kouga and Inuyasha have pups she will be a big help especially since both don't know how this will go with him only being a half-demon.
