"Let's go." Ian whispered to Ash, unable to speak any louder.
He stood on wobbly knees and wrapped a comforting arm around Ash as he led him to the front door. He opened it to find Quinton still standing in the driveway, despite the fact that his entire pack had fallen.
Ian immediately put himself between Ash and Quinton.
"There's my little omega." Quinton grinned wickedly.
The hair on the back of Ian's neck rose as the smell of frightened omega reached his nostrils. He reached his hand back for Ash to grip so he could at least soothe his omega if only just a little.
"I have to say, I am quite surprised an alpha like you was able to take down, not only my second in command, but also my betas. Although, I must say it also is not surprising, seeing as you are in rut, are you not?"
Ian swallowed. "He's not your omega." He grit out, his throat almost too sore to speak. "He will never be your omega."
Quinton scoffed, shrugging off his jacket and letting it fall to the gravel driveway. "I suppose I'll just have to take him for myself."
Ian let go of Ash's hand and blindly pushed him back toward the house. Quinton advanced quickly, landing a solid blow to Ian's jaw. Ian's vision went black for a few seconds and when it came back, he was kneeling in the gravel, rocks digging into his knees through his pants.
Quinton's back was facing Ian as he walked toward Ash. "I am glad I found you, Ashton. You were my favorite little bitch and now you're going to help me open a new farm. How does that sound?"
Before Ian knew it, he was on his feet again, leaping onto Quinton and shoving him to the gravel. The alpha roared when Ian ground his cheek into the gravel. He bucked, flinging Ian off his back. He scrambled to pin Ian down, but Ian managed to get a better grip on Quinton. He flipped them over, reeling back his fist and punching Quinton in the nose. Quinton roared once more when a sickening crunch reached both of their ears.
Ian broke Quinton's nose. He didn't stop though, landing another blow to Quinton's jaw. He rained down punch after punch until Quinton's face was almost unrecognizable with the amount of blood that was caked on it.
Ian pulled away and stood. He was so exhausted that he wanted to lie in the gravel next to Quinton's writhing body and sleep forever.
Suddenly, Ian had an arm full of a sobbing omega. Ian held Ash close to his chest. He kissed the crown of Ash's head. "Hush. Don't cry, Ash. You're safe."
In the distance, Ian heard the choppy noise of blades slicing through air. To the south, a helicopter flew through the cool night air, a light from it aimed at the house.
As it grew closer, it was louder, causing Ian to cover Ash's ears with his hands.
The helicopter hovered above the house for a few moments before lowering into the expanse of the back yard. It only took a few minutes until a few alphas and a beta woman rounded the corner of the house. They were dressed in bulletproof vests over their blue suits, with guns holstered at their sides.
They sent the beta forward first. She had a blanket that she offered Ian. Thankful, he wrapped it around Ash's shaking shoulders.
"I am Emily! Your mother sent us!" She spoke loudly over the noise of the helicopter. "We were told that we would encounter five dangerous betas and two alphas. Quinton Sheffield is one we were told of. He is wanted for running an illegal omega farm."
Ian glanced at Quinton who was still on the ground. He hugged Ash tighter.
"It's only us." Ian had to lean closer to her to speak over the helicopter. His throat was bruised and he was sure she could tell.
Emily nodded to the alpha police who quickly cuffed Quinton and dragged him into the back yard, despite the weak fight he gave them. "Follow me." She told Ian and Ash, staying a comforting distance away from the two.
Ian wasn't sure who was carrying who. He was leaning heavily on Ash while the omega stayed tucked under his arm. Emily led them to the helicopter and offered them two sets of headphones to block the noise. Ian placed Ash's headphones over his ears, relaxing when he did. Ash did not like the loud noise of the helicopter.
Ian placed his headphones on and climbed into the helicopter per Emily's instructions. He pulled Ash into the seat next to him, smiling when he cuddled into Ian's side.
Throughout this entire unpleasant situation, Ash was the constant pleasant factor. He wouldn't have changed the situation one bit if he could. Ian rested his head on Ash's, his eyes growing heavy. Ash held tightly onto Ian's hand, rubbing it comfortingly. It was in his nature to comfort everyone else rather himself and Ian loved him even more for his large heart.
The last thing that Ian thought before falling asleep was that Ash now trusted him enough to claim each other as possible mates. There was nothing Ian wanted more in the world than to have Ash as his trusted mate to love and protect as his own.
