Scrunching up my nose, I woke up to the sound of dishes clattering together. Can't say that it was one of the most nice awakening but it definitely wasn't the worst, but it kind of felt off.
I grabbed my phone and checked the time. Ashamed, I saw that I slept in way too late for my liking. I lied to myself, thinking I could wake up on time without a timer. Apparently, I can't be trusted.
Placing my phone down back on the floor, I crawled out of my futon. If I wanted to be a good couch, I needed to get Yuri up and going. Since I've been letting him have free days, I'm feeling like I should just lay it all on him today.
In the zone, I changed into my running clothes. I brushed my hair through my fingers to try to look decent.
"Looking good." I mumbled as I looked at myself in the mirror. Rubbing the tiredness out of my eyes, I decided to go wake Yuri up.
Knocking on his door, I waited for Yuri to answer. Usually it only took him a few moments to answer but it took a long time.
"Yuri, are you in there?" I whispered, opening to wooden door. But when I opened the door, he wasn't there. Usually I was the one to get him up, so this was really different.
Huffing, I decided to ams see if he was eating breakfast. Me waking up to dishes made since if that was the case.
"Yuri~! Are you having breakfast?" I sang as I leaned into the kitchen. But again, the room was totally empty. "Did he go out?"
I took a handful of grapes from out of the fruit bowl. I couldn't really enjoy them, the boring atmosphere getting to me. As I played with round, green fruits, I walked over to the front door.
Popping on the floor, I smushed the rest of the ball-shaped fruit into my mouth. I didn't really feel like having an actual breakfast, so I just decided to go out and find Yuri.
Walking out of the front door, I instantly felt the chilly wind hit me. There I tried to keep myself warm by rubbing my arms to keep the cold away.
I decided to go where usually goes to work out or just relax, the skating rink. Going inside the building didn't change the temperature. If at all it for even colder, but I couldn't complain. It was pretty much of a second hone for him, which hamde me feel closer to knowing him.
And sure enough, he was there sitting there on the bench. Taking off his shoes, he threw them out of frustration. He whipped the sweat off of his forehead. The way he was acting there was something wrong.
He didn't even hear the doors open or even me walking around. Leaning on the wall, I watched as he just stared at the ground upset.
"Yuri." Surprised, he stood up brushing the hair out of his face. I guess I came at a bad time.
"V-victor, why are you here?" He moved his glasses back up to the bridge of his nose. Awkwardly, he picked up his skates slowly and put them on the bench.
"I'm your coach, aren't I supposed to be here?" I walked over, reaching over to his hand. "What's wrong? I saw you minutes earlier. Why did you throw them?"
"I can't do anything right."
