The days passed and so did the weeks, it soon builded up to months, John never spoke to Sherlock, but Sherlock kept trying, text after text was ignored and all his phone calls were declined, his letters returned unread he knew John was slowly forgetting him, but Sherlock couldn't forget him he was always on his mind.

*John*

January 1st

I'm still not going to forget you

-SH

'You will'

January 3rd

I solved a case today, wish you were helping me

- SH

'Lies you just need someone to make you feel important'

January 7th

Don't delete the blog I like reading our old cases

- SH

'Our? He just dragged me along'

January 15th

Visit me?

- SH

'No I will forget you'

From that day forward John blocked Sherlock's number and attempted to forget him

June 1st

I could really use some help on this case

- Lestrade

Ask Sherlock

- JW

Sherlock? He hasn't been to Scotland Yard since

April

- Lestrade

Not my problem, now I have to go

- JW

Okay John, and please visit Sherlock he misses you

- Lestrade

No he's forgotten me by now, now bye

- JW

Believe what you want

- Lestrade

Life continued for one of the men while the other life went slowly down hill, John met Mary and was happy for the first time since the fall his memories of Sherlock were slowly fading but Sherlock never forgot

July 1st

I got a new phone, not that you care, just keep

my number just in case

- SH

John ignored the text and carried on, going to work at Bart's and then coming home to Mary, life couldn't be better for John Watson at this moment

John was woken up by a text coming through at midnight

00:00 July 7th

Happy Birthday, old friend

- SH

I took John a moment to realise who was texting him

'He remembers my birthday? But still no apology'

And with that sleep toke over John once again

*Sherlock*

8:30

'Still no reply?'

Anger filled Sherlock as he threw the phone against the wall as it lay broken Sherlock began to cry

"Shit!"

"Sherlock?" Mrs Hudson called

When no reply came from the flat she ran up worried

"What's wrong Sherlock?"

"I...I...I'm try...trying...to...talk...to...John" Sherlock said between sobs

"Well that's a good thing right?"

"No, he reads every text I send but never replies" the sadness was replaced by anger

"Give him time"

"I've given him months, HE FORGOT ABOUT ME"

Mrs Hudson flinched away from him

"Sherlock..."

"I'm sorry, Mrs Hudson please go back to your flat before I do any more damage"

More and more months passed by the time Sherlock received a text off John it had even passed a new year, he'd sent around another 100, 96 to be precise, he drug use became more common and he refused to eat more that two meals a week, he never took a case, all because he lost his Watson.
