Chapter Four

  I wake up an hour later and smile when I see Jack is cuddling me still awake. He sees I'm awake and smiles at me and I smile back. He sits up and pulls me into his lap and cuddles me close.

  "Am I allowed to have another chance?" he whispers in my ear.

  "Not yet...I'm sorry but I'm not ready for it yet. I gave you my heart once and you destroyed it. I need time to know you're not going anywhere again."

  "I understand and I'll stay by your side for as long as it takes to prove to you I'm not leaving ever again."

  I go silent and look down glad that I'm in his arms once again. I feel his breathing quicken as some moonlight shines on us and I look at him.

  "It's fine Jack. Change into your wolf he won't hurt me."

  "But I want to hold you in my arms..." he grimaced in pain.

  "Let him out now before he tears you apart! I can't lose you again Jack!" I plead my eyes watering up.

  Jack looks at me then puts me to the side and begins to change. His wolf is massive but because he's an alpha it makes sense. within minutes he's full

wolf and is snuggling close to me his head on my lap. I smile and stroke his fur watching his eyes close and his tail wags.

  "I knew you wouldn't hurt me. You can't can you?"

  He looks at me and his eyes answer my question and I smile then kiss his head. I frown remembering something and I look around. Jack watches me. My hand goes to my neck and his eyes follow then he growls understanding.

  "I had it on yesterday...where could it of gone?" I whimper my eyes flickering around the room.

  Jack gets up and jumps off the bed sniffing around trying to find the necklace. I search around the bed and under the covers and pillows. I whimper when Jack lays his head on the bed his ears down and his eyes sad.

  "I'm sorry Jack. I know how much that necklace meant to you, it meant a lot to me too so much so that I never took it off even when you broke up with me." I sniffle starting to cry.

  Jack whimpers and licks my hand trying to comfort me. I lay down and he climbs onto the bed and curls up around me his warmth letting me know he's not upset with me for losing it. He slowly turns back to normal and pulls me against his chest.

  "It's fine Autumn. I'm not mad at you, you didn't lose it on purpose. Maybe you should go have a bath to calm down. I'll keep looking around the house for you ok?"

  I sniffle and then get up and head out of the room and down the hall to the bathroom. In a few minutes I'm sitting in the tub my eyes closed as I relax. All of a sudden I hear a bang and the wall explodes inside. I let out a screech and grab the towel I use and hide my body as the dust settles and a shadowy figure appears and I hear a gun. I feel a sharp prick and everything goes fuzzy and then black but not before I hear Jack's voice calling out my name.
