Chapter 35

I look at Jack and frown slightly when I notice the tension under his eyes and in his jaw line, I reach out and touch his jaw and he opens his eyes and looks at me. Our eyes meet and I end up staring into his eyes.

"Jack why are you so tense?"

"Someone attacked us and nobody's doing anything about it except my wolves and I."

"Wait what about the council?"

He shakes his head his eyes darkening.

"My brother?" it comes out as a whisper because I'm afraid of what I'm going to be told.

Jack shakes his head again and I whimper softly.

"I'm sorry Autumn, but don't worry about it ok? My pack is on the case and we are doing everything we can to catch this person. Is there anything you can remember?" he watches me with worried eyes.

"All I really remember is that they aren't human and they hold a certain dislike for humans. Also they called me fang queen so I don't think it was a vampire." I shrug as I know they already have the needle.

"Alright that helps us, I had someone call your friends Sabrina, Babs and Angela. They should be here soon and you will be very safe with them. I however will be with my pack and they will be going over what they have learnt with me and we will be making a plan. I'll tell you all the details tomorrow but we have to work during the day to make any headway." 

"So that means you won't be here?"

"I'm sorry Batty."

"Frostie you know I can hardly sleep without you!"

"You managed just fine for however long we were separated, you'll do fine tonight."

I pout and turn my gaze away from him making him chuckle.

"You pout that lip out anymore and I'll have to bite it and you know how potent my bites are." he warns.

"I thought you said my friends were coming soon."

"I never said they couldn't wait."

"Well I am saying that, it's rude. Now I'm sure they will be here in a few minutes why don't you just go and meet up with your pack?"

"I'm staying here until they get here Autumn. I'm not leaving you unprotected." Jack nips my neck growling softly.

I look up as there is a knock then my friends pile in, "Well they are here now so you can go if you want."

I get up off his lap and haughtily walk to my friends, they all notice the walk and all instantly start giggling when I get over to them. I smile and hug each of them while I feel Jack standing only a few feet away watching me. I turn to him and smile then trot over and snuggle close.

"Jackie be safe ok?"

"I thought you were mad."

"No just upset that I can't sleep curled up next to the one true love of my life tonight, that's it." I smile at him.

"Trust me I'm upset about it too Batty but it's something that has to be done during the day."

"Just don't run yourself ragged, and if you find a way to get time to have a nap get your butt in here and sleep."

He smiles then firmly plants his hands on either side of my face and moves his lips to mine then breaks the kiss and whispers, "Yes my queen."

I smile then he's gone and I'm left standing there with my fingers touching my lips like in a cheesy movie. I shake my head then turn to my friends and squeal.

"Girls night!" they cheer.

"We can watch movies and eat fatty foods and do nails and hair, but Babs you're not touching mine." I laugh as I take notice that Sabrina still has her bubblegum pink hair.

"Fair enough, I am still trying to fix the last mistake."

"Hey Angel likes it and I have no hate for it!" Sabrina whines.

"Oh it looks fine on you don't listen to those bullies." Angela laughs.

"Says you miss exotic Fey."

Angela sticks her tongue out, "Don't hate because you aint!"

We all start to laugh at that then we all clamber onto the bed and start a movie, a few minutes in we call for snacks. When the snacks arrive we chow down, instead of actually watching the movie we gossip and talk about baby names and stuff I still have to buy. 

"Have you ordered the diapers yet?" Sabrina asks looking through a catalog of baby clothes.

"I think we have, I know we have the crib and a wardrobe and a bunch of adorable clothes. I even have toys and a toy chest being ordered." 

"How can you not know if you have diapers ordered?"Angela asks.

"We actually haven't gone through it a lot."

"Oh well that makes sense and now you don't need to worry, we are here to help you!" Babs says smiling.

I smile back and then we get to work making a list of things and pages and catalogs. When we are done I look at the pages upon pages of things and I laugh.

"This baby is going to be really spoiled."

"Well of course they are! They are being born into a family of royals." Angela says matter of factly.

"Oh! what if this baby has the mark?" Babs asks her eyes wide.

"I actually never thought of that, but if they do have the mark then I will be as proud as I can be for them and prepare them for a life of always thinking of others before you are allowed to think of yourself." I sit there my hand absently rubbing my belly my thoughts worried.

"Autumn are you ok?" Sabrina asks.

"Hmm? Yeah I am, sorry I just...To be honest with you girls I'm scared for my child's life."

"Well of course you are! After what happened to both you and Jack no one blames you."

"Babs I think she's talking about the threat that presents itself when the child is born." Angela snaps at our bubbly friend.

"Oooohhh! You mean the vampires and werewolves that do not agree with such a, as they put it, monstrosity?" Babs asks nibbling away at a cookie.
