Ecliptic Melody

It was here that it all began-
Down the hallway, the last room on the left
I heard him play as his fingers glided across the keys,
His ethereal moonlight masterpiece.

I watched and stood there in an ecliptic trance
As darkness consumed our skies, dimming the brilliance of the day,
When veiled lights barely escaped Luna's compelling presence
Crossing in between celestial realms,
A faltering beauty parading the heavens.

Changes come and go in this tilted world
And remnants are too jumbled or indistinct to decipher,
In a place that could have been for us.

Yet reality and truth are tangled, some left unknown
Even beyond goodbyes and letting go,
Where the only memories are those of yellowed, still photos.

Wiping away the dust and cobwebs of that day,
Reading with misty eyes, from the lower left corner the words left behind-
"If you love me, free yourself, in your heart and you will find me.
Remember, soon our worlds will merge in time.
So please sing and play for us, for now and until then-
Until we meet again."

From that day I sang and played with all that I have
Believing his presence is one with mine,
Drifting throughout our remaining lifetimes,
Our undying melody of moonlight:
Reliving a thousand lives.
