Ashley POV
I woke up engulfed in warm arms, and a naked body pressed against my own. After leaving the club him and I had ventured back to his place. Between the door in the bedroom were hours of chit chat and vodka. I admit you played on my mind while sober. Though thankfully dominick hadn't brought up the subject at all last night. He knew who you were once I'd called you Gerald and I knew it made his blood boil slightly.
Lips brushed against my neck, sending shivers down my spine, which earned a low chuckle from him. I smirked slightly and turned over, my eyes meeting chocolate hues and a smirk.
"Morning." I whispered before brushing my lips against his.
"Morning... I was gonna go for a run. Did you want to join?" I shook my head before sighing softly.
"I promised Gerald I'd meet with him today." He groaned slightly and laid on his back, yet pulled me with him. My head was on his chest and his arm holding me against his side.
"Ash... please don't get involved with him again... All the shitty stories you told me and you wanna actually talk to him?" I sighed and started drawing patterns on his chest, tracing the muscles hidden beneath his skin.
"It isn't that I want to get involved... I just want closure Dom." I lifted my head to look in his eyes. "Wouldn't you?" His expression changed, obviously because he knew I was right. Yet his hand that wasn't under me raked it's way through my hair.
"I wouldn't have fucked around on a girl like you Ash... you know me... but you and I also know we aren't ready for commitment." I sighed and found myself once again indulging in his lips. His arms yanking my body against his. "If I didn't have a fucking coaching session in an hour I'd say let's go a round..."
"Mmm damn it.... guess that means I'm showering alone."
"I'll make it up to you tonight?"
"I guess..." I smirked before climbing out of bed and wandering to the bathroom, turning on the shower.
"Ash!"
"Yeah?" I hollered back while stepping into the shower. Dom wandered in wearing his running shorts and holding his champion UFC hoodie with Cruz written on the back.
"Wear this... let me know if he squirms?" I couldn't help but laugh before rolling my eyes.
"Sure. I bet he won't even notice." He smirked slightly watching as I washed my body.
" We'll see." I finished washing before getting out and slipping into some black booty shorts, t-shirt, and the hoodie. I grabbed some different shoes and a dress in case the night took a turn of course. Dominick was already gone by the time I locked up his place and pulled out my phone.
Ash: I'm on my way to the coffee shop I'll ping you the address.
Ger: see you soonI sighed softly and glanced around before putting up the hood. My mind was racing away with different scenarios. You were with her there wasn't anything that was going to change that and I understood. Yet a part of me wishes she was gone. That I had another chance to talk to you like old times. Now we were distance friends. I walked inside and ordered a tea along with your favorite blend of coffee before sitting down at one of the tables near the window, glancing at my phone every now and then.
"Hey!" I nearly jumped hearing your voice, it always seemed to make me nervous and excited.
"Hey Ger!" I couldn't help but grin slightly as you sat down. "So tell me... How the fuck did you get out the bay?" You smirked slightly before taking a sip of your coffee.
"Might as well ask me how the weather is Ash." You chuckled almost sarcastically before shrugging. "I missed you." It was obvious you were cutting to the chase and I couldn't face it right now. I sighed and glanced out the window of the shop.
"Ger... You're with Devon. Why are you telling me this?"
" Because I fucked up all those years ago." You shrugged slightly, sitting back. You looked the same as you did years ago. Hair slicked back and all black attire. Always dressed to impress. "Please tell me you're not with that tool bag Ash... You're wearing his jacket and shit..." I chuckled slightly and glanced to you before unzipping the jacket.
"No I'm not with him I just didn't bring a jacket to New York..."
"I want you back Ash." I felt that familiar anger bubble in my chest. Roughly I bit the inside of my cheek, blood pooling inside my mouth.
"Gerald... You don't have the fucking right...." I growled through clenched teeth, closing the space between us by leaning over the table. "I just fucking got out of Oakland last year... Meanwhile you've been traveling the world and fucking anything that moves!" I whispered yet strained my voice. "I'll be damned if I get stuck back there again! I'll be damned if I give up my career or anything for you!" I stood now, noticing I raised my voice. It was a split second decision for me to walk out of the shop and start down the street.
"Wait up! Ash!" You grabbed my arm and spun me around. My heart was thumping in my chest. " Listen I didn't.. I didn't know... Please... Don't... Don't walk away... Listen I don't understand you're right... But what about us at least being friends?" I yanked my arm away before taking a few deep breaths. "Come to the party tonight. Bring that tool bag hell... I don't care... I just need you Ash... I at least need my best friend back."
"Fine... I'll... I'll come... Does Devon know you met me today?" You shook your head glancing down the street.
" She thinks I'm hanging out with Grady... He covered for me." I nodded slowly before taking a breath. "See you tonight Gerald." Then I walked away leaving you standing there. You'd never understand my journey to the top.
