Ashley POV (7 months later)

I glanced at the rain, sliding down the window before lowering my eyes to the iv in my arm. Abscentmindedly I twirled the giant ring around my finger. Now here I was sitting in the dark reality. My unhappy ending in my mind.

" Are you and Dominick Cruz expecting?" The paparazzi hollered as Dom and I made our way out of the LAX airport. My stomach in knots as I squeezed his hand more.

"Can you all please give my pregnant fiancee some room?!" He yelled back before helping me into the SUV. We'd just come back from Las Vegas from one of his fights. There was barely a scratch on him for now. He got in the driver side and took my hand, kissing the back. "I'm sorry... I should have taken a different plane." He leaned over the arm rest and ran his hand along my stomach. "I can't wait to see him... I hope he's got your eyes... Your laugh.... Dojo won't know what to do with a baby in the house." His eyes found mine before he leaned in, his lips finding mine.

"Nonsense it's okay... I can't wait to meet him either, but I'll love him no matter what he looks like.." I sighed and looked out the window, resting a hand on my stomach as he drove. "Dom?"

" Yeah?"

"Why didn't you tell them we were married?"

"I wanted to make sure you were comfortable with it..." He cracked a smile before squeezing my hand once more. "Would it be okay with you?"

"Yeah it's fine..." He drove along the canyon roads, the night air cool through the ajar windows.

" Dom! Dom!" I wonder if that was the last thing he heard. The car coming the other way collided with his side of the car, sending us off the side of the road and down into the valley below. I remember feeling weightless till we hit the bottom. slowly I lifted my head from the airbag and looked over to him. His arm was across my stomach his eyes fluttering open and closed. "Dominick!"

"Easy..." He mumbled before coughing, blood splattered on the airbag before he removed his arm. "Ashley..." My eyes welled with tears as I took his hand again.

"Baby stay with me! I need you!"

"I love you..." He whispered fighting the unconscious ending that was approaching.

"I love you too.... Some one help!" I yelled out the window. "Help!" The sirens came from afar, the medics popping the airbags before one helped me out. My eyes glued to Dominick. He was limp, screams and cries leaving me like it was a pleading prayer.

"Ma'am I need you to sit down!"

"Dom!" I yelled and pulled away, running to fall beside his body. "Baby please.... I can't... I can't do this alone... Our baby boy needs you.... Dom...." I clung to his hand before they pulled me away. The journey to the hospital was this empty sensation.

"Mrs.Cruz....?" I glanced up at the doctor before looking back down at my stomach. "Your baby boy is perfectly fine... I came to give you this..." She sat down his wedding band and I covered my mouth with one hand while the other picked it up like a precious metal. "I'm sorry for your loss.... I know it's especially hard at this time..... Your husband saved your baby's life with his arm... It was shattered from the airbag."

"I don't know... What to do...." I mumbled moving my hand away. "How... How am I suppose to do this alone....?" My heart sunk into my stomach before I sunk back into the hospital bed.

"Some people are here to visit you... Would you like me to let them in?" I nodded in all reality thinking it was his mother, yet the three people I didn't expect to see came walking into the room. Suzanne was crying and there you stood beside Grady. I didn't have the energy to do anything, but look at you all and cry. Suzanne sat beside me and you grabbed my hand.

"We got you sweetheart...." Suz mumbled as I squeezed my eyes shut.

" It wasn't suppose to end like this mama..."

"We're not going anywhere... We'll all help you raise this baby boy Ash..." Your eyes were red once I caught them on me. You weren't high, but it was obvious you had been crying. Grady was teared up too.

"Can I get you anything?"

"Tea?" I mumbled to Suzanne before she nodded. Her and Grady left, leaving you with me.

"It's been awhile... What like three months?" You whispered examining my finger, and the ring.

" Yeah... How are you?"

"Clean... Because of you..." Your eyes met mine for a moment. " You two got engaged?"

"We were married.... Five months ago... Dom wanted to make sure his son was taken care of no matter what.... It's his Gerald... This doctor in Germany he was able to do a early DNA test last month.... I can understand if you walk out that door..." You shook your head before kissing the back of my hand.

" Ash... That man died protecting you... Your baby... The least I can do is look after that boy... Maybe teach him to pick up chicks..." In this moment I finally laughed. The air felt lighter as you went on about touring and about the crazy stories. Suzanne came back with Grady and joined in to distract me from what had happened. My son fatherless and I a widow. A few days later I laid my husband to rest beside his family members. The media knew it all. There I stood, his wedding ring dangling from a necklace chain on my neck. Then there was you and Grady, standing beside me as they lowered the coffin into the ground. Dominick Cruz was dead, leaving behind a wife and a unborn son to fend for themselves. Now I was more determined to fight more than anything at some point.
