Gerald POV
You were right. I wouldn't understand and it wouldn't be easy to get you to talk about what had happened over the past years. Once I made it out of the bay I didn't even bother to ask about you. Then again who could blame me because I was trying my best to forget you.
"Yo G!" I looked back to Grady who was holding up his camera. "What did you say?"
"That I missed her." He chuckled slightly and snapped a photo.
"Man you look like a lost fucking puppy." I rolled my eyes before punching him in the arm.
" Shut up... You remember how things were in the bay... It was bad, but her and I made fucking sense... With Dev... I don't see anything becoming of us." I shrugged slightly before shoving my hands in my pockets as we walked.
" Yeah... We all know she fucks around... We all know you fuck around too." Grady lit a cigarette and took a drag before glancing towards me. "Thing is... We all missed Ash too... We just needed to give you the push to miss her too..." I chuckled slightly before chewing on the inside of my cheek.
" And if she wants nothing to do with me ever?"
"I don't even think that should be a question." Grady shrugged and I gave him a curious look while he avoided my gaze.
"You know what she went through don't you?"
"Some of it... I lost touch of her for a good bit... It isn't my place to tell you G." He glanced at me for a moment. I knew Grady and he was rarely upset about something yet the look told it all.
"Why didn't she call me..." He stopped and dropped his cigarette, smashing it with his foot.
"She did call you... Actually a good couple of times... You answered drunk and never showed up.... Or you were fucking someone drunk and forgot... She was nothing important to you G... She had your back and you didn't have hers."
" What are you talking about Grady?!" I groaned slightly before taking a deep breath. I'd spent a lot of time drunk and surely it was possible. Yet this was Ash we were talking about.
" She was fucking homeless Gerald... She crashed at my place for a week till Stacey got pissed... I didn't hear from her for a bit till one day I saw her... She would shower at the gym and sleep under that bridge we use to hide and smoke under." I felt my heart clog my throat as I stopped. The whole idea of you being homeless made me sick. "I tried calling you too... But you said fuck Ash... Your mom did what she could but you know ash... She's stubborn... She didn't want to be anyone's burden."
"Christ... What about her dad? The town house?" Grady sighed as he kept walking and I jogged to catch up. " What...?"
"Once you were gone and out of the picture things got weird between them... That she wouldn't tell me but... She had marks on her... I didn't know if it was from fighting or from him..." I shook my head, cursing mentally at myself.
"I didn't... I didn't know..." I chewed on my bottom lip glancing at the building to the penthouse we'd been staying. "I don't know if she'll ever open up to me Grady."
"Can you blame her? Listen I got a shoot I wanna do... I'll see you at the club later?" I nodded slowly, giving the classic bro hug before heading inside the hotel. My mind was racing away with what Grady had said and he was right. I wasn't there even when you probably needed me the most. I only dwelled on that all night till I got ready for the club and took the limo with everyone else. My mind wasn't in the party mood because I was set in talking to you.
"Gerald... Ger...?" I blinked a few times and glanced to Dev who was pulling my arm. "Let's go..." She let me go and I climbed out after her, snaking my arm around her torso as we walked inside. I glanced around spotting Grady chatting away in the VIP area. Then there you were, glancing around then waving to someone. Figures he was here. Yet he had another girl on his hip other than you. It didn't seem to phase you. It was as if you were use to his behavior. Then again you'd told me you two weren't anything. "I swear you can't keep your eyes off that skank."
"She's not a skank... That's what you are Dev... Run along... We both know you're here to fuck someone and then come crawling back to me at the end of the night." I huffed and smirked slightly as she walked away. Then again it was merely the truth. I slowly made my way through the crowd to the VIP area, sitting down and grabbing the whiskey.
"Yooo it's G!" Marty hollered and a few people screamed, more than likely fan girls. You laughed and glanced back to the dance floor. Something was off and it was obvious you were upset. The bubbly personality from early completely drained.
" Hey... You wanna chat on the roof?" You glanced to me and shook your head.
"I gotta go soon... I'm just waiting for Dominick to find that drunk girls ride home..."
"You're leaving so soon? For what?"
"I gotta go back to the bay.... I gotta start training for my next fight... Five months... I got the call after I met up with you." You shrugged slightly with a half smile then looked back to the crowd. " Your girlfriend is very.... Flirtatious."
" She cheats on me every night... Guess that is what I get right? For fucking us up...?"
"Bye Gerald..." You stood and started rushing out the club. I got up and went after you, only catching you once we were outside.
"Ash! Ash wait!" You stopped and turned around, glancing up at me.
" Why you gotta keep bringing it up?"
"I miss you..."
"I miss you too but-" I took your face between my hands and kissed you roughly. Maybe I had hoped you would kiss me more... Wanna make a move or... Something. Tears filled your eyes at you pulled away and shook your head.... "Bye Gerald.... Tell Dominick I grabbed a cab...."
"Bye Ashley...." That was the last time I saw you for awhile. I never saw Devon so fucking happy.
