Ashley POV
I fucking hate it. I hate how good it feels to be dancing here with you, listening to the music. I feel like I'm cheating, but he's dead. He isn't coming back. He isn't going to sing to Kamden ever. Your arms were wrapped around me from behind as St.Ides started to play. I kissed your cheek at one point, your arms growing stiff around my frame from the sudden affectionate gesture.
"Ger?"
"Mmm"
"Wanna grab a bite to eat?" Your lips pressed against my temple before you let me go and offered your hand.
"I hope you want tacos because that food truck right down there has the best tacos." I cracked a smile and took your hand, curling to your side.
"You know I could never turn down tacos." You chuckled for a moment as we walked, the silence filled my the music filling the air.
"Ash?"
"Yeah?"
"I'm sorry..."
"For what?" I glanced to you, watching your shoulders shrug.
"For a lot of shit... To think I gave up this..." He motioned between us as we kept walking. My mind was going crazy at the thoughts. "But I know he gave you the world and more.... Exactly what you deserved... And I know I can't be him." Your voice cracked and I stopped us by tugging your hand. My eyes scanning yours before I placed my hand on the back of your neck. You leaned down and brushed your lips against mine before I took initiative to let my lips linger on yours. I pulled away slightly, biting my lips together for a moment before speaking.
"You still wanna get tacos?" You smiled and nodded your head before taking my hand and kissing the back.
"Hell yeah." We walked to the one of many food trucks. You ordered ten tacos before we sat down side by side. Dare I say my heart was still racing in my chest even while we ate. However happiness around here is short lived. The day went great up until meet and greets. Your show was awesome to say the least. Thankfully you kept me out of fan's sight. Those familiar blue eyes and dark hair lingered in the group coming backstage though. My stomach knotted once she saw me and dared to smile.
"Ashley Davis! Is that you?"
"Grace Pierre... How could I forget you?" She was about to hug me when I stuck my hand out and she shook it. "O come on you can't still be mad?"
"I'm not mad... I'm cautious around people who willingly sleep with their best friend's boyfriend.... Fan of G-eazy?" I shoved my hands in my pockets and glanced around for a moment.
"Yeah... After that day I didn't talk to him... If that counts for anything." All I could mange was a shrug. "Are you two together?"
"No we're just close friends at the moment... He's been helping me raise my son."
"Ahh right I forgot your husband died." I felt my jaw tense at her sigh. The anger that I was so familiar with began bubbling in my chest.
"Yeah... Well have a great meet and greet." I gave a half hearted wave before walking to Gerald's dressing room and pacing. My heart was pounding so loud it echoed in my ears, a headache seeping to the surface. I stopped and clenched my fists before landing a few punches at the brick wall. The pain was numbing once I looked at my bloody knuckles, taking deep breaths.
"Ash...? What the fuck Ash?!" I didn't even pay attention to you until you pressed a clean shirt against my bleeding hands. My eyes found yours, you were shirtless and still sweaty from performing. " What the fuck you punching walls for?"
"You didn't see her? Grace? That little fucking bitch had to speak ill of the dead... I forgot your husband died... She's lucky... She's lucky I've got enough self control to not bust her face in...for now..." You managed a weak laugh before shaking your head.
"Come on... Let's get to the hotel and clean your hands up."
" You have an after party to go to don't you?" You shrugged. "I've gotta get home to Kamden."
"I got something better to do tonight and my mom has him... She said she'd watch him." You mumbled and just like that we were off. You rushed us to the awaiting SUV and to the hotel penthouse suite. You showered and obviously helped me wrap my hands. The cuts were tiny, by the bruises were showing. You gave me one of your shirts and I slipped it over my frame, it was long enough to not need pants, a good thing considering you only had one pair of night clothes. By the time I made it to the living room you had already ordered a boat load of room service and had a movie picked.
"What's all this?" I laughed as you shrugged.
"Movie night? Pasta or sushi?"
"Both" I smirked and sat down with you, pulling the blanket up slightly before you sat the tray on our laps. The 2015 film demolition was playing as we ate. As the night went on we finishing eating I laid in your arms, my eyes growing heavy till they closed. If this didn't feel like a flashback or a dream then I wouldn't have an idea of what could possibly top this moment.
"You awake?" You mumbled yet I was too close to sleep to answer. "I love you... I promised him I would always take care of you and your son... But I really....I wanna say I shouldn't have ever fucked up... But your son is amazing... I'm kind of glad now... I hope he looks up to me even though I'm not his dad... I fucking love you and him..." You whispered before kissing the top of my head. Gently you lifted me up after flicking off the tv, carrying me into the bedroom. Your warm chest once again my pillow as our legs tangled together. Now I was wide awake. You still loved me and dare I say I still loved you too.
