[Let's pretend that it's prom for them, okay?]
prom — part one

"is it bad that i'm nervous?" i keep my hands in my lap as i watch the scenery pass outside of the car.

"no," derek tells me, "i think it's okay for you to be nervous. in all honesty, i'm nervous as well."

i let out a small laugh before looking around the beautiful car. i try to take in everything in here, since i'll only be able to be in here for a short amount of time.

"i'm not trying to make this sound rude," i say and he laughs, "but how'd you afford this beauty?"

"i knew how much you love them and this is also your prom. i decided that you deserve the best, and i also had a small donation from a friend."

"thank you anyways, derek, you're the best prom date ever."

he waves his hand at me with a smile. "it's no big deal really."

"trust me," i say, "you're a better prom date than the one i had last year."

he shakes his head with a laugh as he stops behind a few cars. "are you ready for this?"

i look out the window and at all of the people and then back to him. i nod, smile and say "i'll never know until i get out there."

he smiles as he gets out of the car and opens mine for me. he holds his hand out and i take it as we walk up the path to the high school. it takes forever, is taking pictures with each other and our family and friends, before we actually go inside to dance. one thing that i cannot do is dance, and you'll never find me anywhere where dancing is involved, excluding prom and my, hopefully future, wedding.

he opens the doors for me and i thank him as we walk into the gymnasium together. i spot a few friends, but nothing compared to when i spotted daisie, maya, and lilac standing close by. i didn't get the chance to see them to take pictures, but now i get the entire night to spend more time with them. i excuse myself from derek and make my way over to my three best friends.

"hana!" the three of them shout, making people turn and look at us, before they all come and tackle me with hugs.

"my babes!" i squeal and the three of us let go of each other as we laugh.

"i can't believe we've gone without seeing each other for this long!" i laugh at lilac's comment.

"li," i say, "we've only been away from each other for eight hours."

"hey, that's still a long freaking time."

okay, we all know that's not what she said but let's pretend. if you can't tell what i'm doing, i'm winning right now.

derek walks over to us and shouts, "there's a surprise waiting for you up on the stage."

i give him a look before shrugging and following him to the front of the gym. when we get there i give derek a raised eyebrow before he grins and points to the stage. my eyes follow the invisible line that his finger makes and see my very own boyfriend standing there with a smile as he looks down at me. my mouth falls a little as he jumps down from the stage and wraps his arms around me.

"what're you doing here?" i ask him and he nods over to derek.

"i may have had something to do with it," he says and i grab the boy and engulf him in a 'hana hug.'

"thank you, derek. i seriously appreciate this."

calum and derek do something with their hands before calum grabs my hand and pulls me onto the dance floor. the song that comes on surprised me and i look at calum with wide eyes and a grin.

"i would never forget my girlfriend's favorite song on an album of mine."

let's just say i fell more in love with that boy, but i'll tell you that the song was actually one of my favorites. the song has the name of beside you.

"within a minute i was all packed up," the feelings inside of me just make me tear up, not only because this is fetus five sauce but... yeah it actually is. "i've got a ticket to another world. i don't want to go, i don't want to go."

not expecting the next thing to happen, calum starts to sing. "silent words are hard to speak, when your thoughts are all i see. 'don't ever leave,' she said to me."

the song continues with luke, and the rest of the boys, before the next song, and the few other songs after that, plays. calum doesn't leave my side for the rest of the night until derek comes up to us.

"i would like to have a chance to dance with her," he jokes and calum hands me over to him.

"take good care of her," calum says before rushing off and onto the stage. "alright, everyone, i'm calum hood. i'm in a pretty terrible band and my pretty terrible band and i would like to sing you a song!"

my eyes widen as three more boys walk onto the stage, all glancing and smiling at me. maya comes running up to me with a grin as we both fan girl for a second. she rushes back to her date as the familiar song starts to be played; and that song was wherever you are.

So many feels writing this tbh. 🌚 so I hope you liked it. Also, can you believe this is over 900 words?? By far the longest chapter I've written for this series. 670 words. 4/18/17
