First Love [Luke Hemmings]

Chp 5

Luke's POV

"Hey Julie? what are you doing here?"

I asked as I opened the door. she never visits me.

"Can I come visit my favorite cousin?" she smiled at me as she enters my house.

"Um okay..weird" I lead her to my living room were I had my guitar out.

"So what's up?"

"Um have you talked to Anne?" was the first thing she asked.

"No I haven't, I tried calling her but her phone is off or something"

"I'm getting worried Luke" she looks at me concerned "she has never missed a week of school &when I go visit her her sister tells me that she is sleeping. always sleeping"

"Well she hasn't told me anything. last time we talked she was suppose to come over to work on our project but she never showed up"

"When was that?"

"Um Wednesday"

"She left early that day because of a headache" she leaned back on the chair "um I have to go but can you pass by Anne's &see if she is okay please?"

"Yeah I will"

"Okay thanks!" I walk her towards the door &see her leave.

She wasn't the only one concerned about Anne. I didn't want to ask her how she is because knowing Julie she won't stop bugging me about her. I head back to the living room &put my shoes on &then start heading out to Anne's house.

I get to Anne's house & I knock on her door. I didn't see any cars in the driveway so maybe no one is home. I knock a few more times but no response. I was about to start walking back home but I heard shuffling behind the door.

"Luke?"

I saw Anne behind the door &she was different. Her shiny hair was know dull &lifeless, her lips were now chapped &pale, her smooth skin looked rough.

"What are you doing here?"

"I came to see how you were doing Anne. I was getting worried"

"I'm fine Luke, I'll see you at school" she closes the door on me but I stop her. I noticed that she was hiding her arm in her back.

"Anne let me in please"

"I don't want you to see me like this Luke" her brown eyes started to get watery as she brought out her hand. she had an IV stuck in her skin, she had bruises &bandages.

"Let me in"

She moved from the door &started walking towards her room. I followed her &noticed that she has her windows closed &towels scattered on the floor.

"Anne what happened?" I told her as I sat next to her on her bed.

"I don't know Luke" she looked at with a worried expression "I've been having these monstrous headaches that are so painful that it causes me to throw up. I don't know what it is"

"Have you gone to the doctor?"

"No Luke I'm just going to sleep it away" she chuckles "of course I went. they did blood work &test that that won't have the results till like next week or something"

Even though she tried to laugh about it I knew she was in pain. I stared at her for a few more seconds to examine her face.

"This medicine is making me sleepy. I swear I've been asleep the whole day" she laughs looking at me.

"Come on" I told her as I help her lay down. I lay down across from. My feelings for her have grown since the last time we talked or seen each other.

"Anne"

"Yeah Luke?"

"You are going to be fine" I told her as I caressed her face

"I hope so" she tells me taking in a deep breath &her eyes turning watery.

"Go to sleep okay, I'll be here when you wake up"

I get her closer to me to the point where I felt her hot breath on my chest.

"Thank you Luke" she says as she lays her face on my chest. I was able to feel her tears through my shirt.

I waited a few min to make sure she was asleep.

"Anne?"

All I heard were her soft snores through her congested nose.

"I love you..."
