What kind of name is that? No wonder Isaac wrote Dr. M on the paper. He is probably Russian.

"Can I help you?" a tall fat looking doctor asked me. His long black/grey hair stops till his shoulders && his beard, that thing is long. He looks like Santa.

"Hello?" his thick Russian accent hit me back to reality.

"Ugh yes, um Im here to talk about Anne" I tell him as I close the door.

"You are Luke?"

"Ugh yes" I was uncertain if I should answer because it was creepy the way he automatically knew my name.

"Isaac told me about you before she left with Anne. Sit, sit. I'll be back"

Ohh. that's how he knew my name.

"So Luke, tell me why you are here" he said as he sat behind his desk &looked through a file.

"I want to know what's wrong with Anne" I told him calmly

"What do you know so far?"

"All I know is that she gets these really bad headaches that cause her to throw up, she constantly drinks these pills that I don't even know what are for. she hardly comes to school &always comes here. she won't tell me what's wrong"

Dr. M looks at me as he closes the file he was reading. he starts shuffling through his paper work &file cabinets.

"Okay Luke, here" he hands me a folder "this is Anne's fathers medical history"

"When he was fifteen, his mother passed away due to irritation on her esophagus, & also for having painful headaches. His family lived a low class life so all the money they earned was to put food on the table &to put a roof over their heads..."

"What does this have to do with Anne?" I interrupted him

"They didn't have money for regular doctor appointments so whatever his mother had they weren't able to figure out what was going on. when Anne's dad was 25 he started to get the same symptoms as his mother. Painful headaches, vomiting due to pain, sensitivity to light &sound. Yes these symptoms might sound like a regular migraine but on his case it was something more serious because he had them constantly. he would come once a week or every other week because the pain Meds I gave him wouldn't work"

"Anne has the same symptoms. so what she has is something more serious"

"Do you know how Anne's father died?" Dr. M asked me

I didn't know he died. I didn't even know if he was still in their lives.

"To all honestly Dr. M. They don't talk about her father, I didn't even know that he existed" as harshly as it sounds it's the truth. No where in her house is their a picture of her father, they are all pictures of just her mom &Anne &Isaac.

"Luke, Anne has a brain tumor that is deep inside her brain that it can't be removed"

Tumor?

Suddenly it felt as if the earth stopped spinning. everything was playing in slow motion.

Anne has a tumor?

All of a sudden I was able to hear everything from Dr. M breathing to a fly landing on the window.

Anne has a tumor?

Everything started to come back to me.

From the first time I met her to the first time she came over my house.

From her first headache to when I saw her with bruises &IV's.

From when she came back to school with her eyes red to the first day I saw her taking her pills.

The pills...

"What are the pills for?" I look up to see Dr. M going through Anne's file.

"Since we can't operate because the tumor is really deep inside the middle of her brain I gave her something to control her pain &to control the tumor from growing"

"Why can't she just do Chemo? Won't it shrink the tumor?"

"Chemo won't help her. The chemo is going to shrink the tumor yes but since the tumor is very deep it will damage her healthy tissue. so even if it helps..."

"It will still kill her...." I finished for him "chemo won't help, surgery won't help. then what will?"

"The support &Love from her family" he looked at me "I'm sorry Luke but there is nothing I can really do anymore"

"All this time Anne hasn't told me anything" I take out my phone as I look at my screen savor. it was Anne when we were at the park. the last time I saw her absolutely happy "how long does she have? how will we know that it's almost time?"

"Her pills will stop working. She will be having constant pain until she is in a hospital bed, being comforted by morphine & her family"
