First Love [Luke Hemmings]

Chp 7

It's been 2 weeks since I spent the night at Anne's &she hasn't been acting as herself. I ask her what's wrong but she claims she is fine. I know she isn't. She came back to school a 3 days after I slept over &she still looked a little pale but she was okay.

"Okay everyone listen up!" our choir teacher spoke "the school year is about to end &we have one final project. you will have to sing a duet, but this time I choose the partner &instead of singing in the class we are going to sing in the auditorium with the school band. which you already know it's Senior Michael, Ashton &Calum &their new guitarist..."

"Hey what did I miss?" I heard someone whisper in my ear.

I turn around &its Anne. her hair was a mess &she was breathing heavily.

"He is talking about our final class project... are you okay?" I looked at her with a puzzled face

"Yeah I'm fine, I was running here so I wouldn't be that late" she laughed as she gave me a kiss on the cheek.

"Thanks you for joining us Anne" the teacher interrupted. we focus our attention to the front of the class but then we find out that the class was paying attention to us. I heard a little laugh coming from Anne which I noticed is trying to hide her blush.

"Sorry, I didn't want run late" Anne shyly smiled.

"As I was saying: Samantha with Erin, Edward with Dillon..."

"Um what is he doing?" I heard Anne

"He is choosing our partners for our final project" I looked at her. I noticed her lips are a little bit chapped then usual, she had dark circles under her eyes which she tried to cover with make up, her brown eyes were a little red.

"What are you looking at?" she made me loos my train of thought.

"Just starring at you" I smile at her

"And?" She smiled at me showing her straight teeth while bitting a little bit of her tongue.

"You are still sick aren't you?"

Her smile disappeared instantly.

"I hoped you wouldn't notice" she looked down at her hands

"Anne what's wrong?" i move my hand from my knee towards her knee going up her thigh towards her hands. I intwined our fingers, &she looks at me. I noticed her eyes getting red but she puts on a smile on her face &changes the subject.

"I've noticed that I haven't heard you sing ever since you came here"

"I never got-"

"Anne, Luke are you with us?" the teacher interrupted us again. we loos focus on each other &just smiled.

"Okay now. Anne you are with Luis #2, which leaves Luke with Luis. Now everyone partner up &pick a song, you have till Friday"

"Oh you are with my best friend" Anne gave me a little smile.

"Best friend?" I asked. since when were her &Luis best friends? I've never seen the together ever since she came back to school, she doesn't talk about him either.

"Yeah that's me" I heard Luis.

"Um I have to go with Luis know but um will I see you in lunch Luke?"

"No not today, but I'm I'll pick you up at your locker after school" I tell her looking at Luis then back at Anne.

Anne got up from her seat &Luis took her in for a hug, once he let her go he looked at me then gave Anne a kiss on the cheek.

"I'll see you later babe" I get up from my seat &give Anne a kiss before she leaves. She looked at me a little confused before she left.

"I'm not going to get at her I promise you" Luis said as he sat down next to me.

"I know you won't because you might cheat on her" I spat at him

"Look I know you don't like me-"

"I don't like you period"

"Well that sucks for you because me &Anne are friends now. You are going to have to get used to me talking to her"

"You haven't talked to her since the day she stopped coming, &the day she started you just ignored her. Even during your Tae Kwon Do practices you don't"

"Well I'm going to start now. I haven't talked to her for those 2 weeks because I still loved her"

Loved her?

"She hasn't told you has she?"

He must have seen my confused expression because he started telling me his story.. their story.

"We met during Tae Kwon Do. She was a white belt &i was a black belt. We've been talking for about 1 month till I realized my feelings for her. She was in Mexico for about a week &the days I didn't see her I missed her more. when she finally came back I just wanted to be with her. she was different then my ex. She was always happy, she had a different perspective of life, she was friendly with everyone, my talks with her made me fall for her more and more...."

Tell me something I don't know I thought to myself.

"She would always play her fathers guitar for me when I would go over..."

She plays guitar?

"Every time we would be together I would alway see her smiling &i knew if I told her about my ex she would just leave me & I didn't want to loose her"

"But you did" I told me. hearing his story mad me angry "you practically played with her heart when she loved you, how cou-"

"That's the reason she broke it off Luke" he cut me off "the first time I told her that I loved her she hesitated. She would tell me she loved me back but I knew she didn't mean it. Her hesitating made me know that she wouldn't love me back"

I looked up at him but noticed he was starring at something else. I turn to see what he was starring at &it was Anne. She looked so happy. she was smiling &laughing with Luis #2 while skimming through each others ipod.

"So I decided to tell her about my ex"

I turn back to look at Luis who was already looking back at me

"She was devastated, but at the same time she looked relieved. she didn't have to tell me anything but I knew she was relieved because she didn't love me so why would she have to keep lying to me. I told her that we are best friends because we know everything about each other. so if you don't like me it's fine, but I won't stop talking to her because of you"

"Luis, Luke you guys talking about songs or your love triangle?" our teacher said

"Songs about love" I told him giving him a small smile.

I kept starring at Anne who was already listening to a song that Luis #2 put on, she noticed me starring at her &smiled. I smiled back but then focused on Luis.

"You could talk to her but just don't kiss her or I'll punch you in the face" I told Luis with a serious look.

"She has never had a first love Luke, maybe you'll be the first one"
