Wicked Secrets

Chapter 6

There was a collective gasp from the audience. Almost everyone knew Corine and they all thought she was dead! But none were more surprised than a man at the front. At first, he was shocked, then he was confused, then he settled with rage.

'Time to finish the job!' he thought, and pulled out a little something, getting prepared.

Meanwhile, Corine was two seconds from strangling Dean. She couldn't believed this. That would teach her better to trust anyone.

"How did you know?" Corine whispered to Dean.

"There were a lot of signs," Dean whispered back, shrugging. But there was no hiding that delighted look in his face.

How could she be so careless?! A word came out of Corine, seethed with rage. "Why?!"

"It was all part of my plan. To reveal you to the public so you had absolutely no choice to come back to me," Dean answered.

Corine felt a hint of gratitude under that bubbling rage. His intentions may be good. A part of her deep down really just wanted to go back.

But not like this! When she was younger, all she wanted... was right here in front of her. To be accepted back to this society. But now...

Now, she was too into her new life, too deep with her new connections. There was no going back!

"I'm sorry," was all Corine said as she backed away from Dean.

Bang!

A bullet just grazed Corine's sleeve. Blood dropped from her cut arm. Thankfully, it was not deep.

Everyone was frozen, too shocked to move, even Corine and Dean!

Bang!

Corine moved just in time, a millisecond away from Death.

An assassin was on her tail! She needed to act quick! Without even a second wasted, she threw one of her 'shadow' bombs and flipped right off the stage, landing with a triple somersault. Those gymnastics lessons in those old days really paid off. Otherwise, she may as well be dead from the height of that stage.

No time to glorify now. Checking her watch, she had 3 minutes to make her escape. Great! She ran to the left side and immediately jumped over the fence.

Bang!

Just one second off and she would be dead! Instead, she landed to the other side of the fence, perfectly unscathed. The rest of the gang were there, some looking livid.

Uh oh! "Shadow, what the hell was that?!" Ape began shouting, who obviously heard the gunshot. A few screamed terrors upon themselves. Most of them were looking at Corine, either scared or livid.

Bang! Bang!

Two men were on their tail! Luckily, nobody was shot but there may be no next time!

"RUN!!" Corine screamed and everyone did. She threw another 'shadow' bomb at them and everyone immediately prepared their gadgets while Corine threw a 'chameleon' bomb at the gang.

But...

Bang!

A man was shot and he was immediately dead! Were they just lucky or...

Bang!

Another man dead! How?!

Tech threw a little gadget up making a force field, shielding them. Then, he immediately rushed to Corine and slammed her to the force field.
