Chapter 8

Nobody could believe it. How could they? Corine was the shadow, the person covered in the dark. Never seen in public ever.

And now here she is in TV, the most public place that anyone could think of. Being wanted for murder.

Everyone froze. No one breathed. The victim's face was shown and Corine immediately knew it was the man she beheaded. She froze.

That man has been murdered, no denying it, but how on damn earth did the police found that out in less than possibly an hour?

"A witness had seen this girl, Corine kill the man with his own eyes and from his view was accepted immediately. The police were able to find that person matching the witness' description," the reporter continued announced.

The witness face was shown as the second burly man. That explains that.

Finally, everyone looked at Corine. All of them just said in ragged voices "What have you done?".

Corine looked at each one, their expressions all unreadable and stayed silent.

"Back to the meeting room, everyone!" Ape said.

Everyone went back to the meeting room, a few eyed on Corine disdainfully. Lulu, however, put a comforting shoulder on her.

"It's gonna be alright," she said, her voice soothing and gentle like a bird. "It's gonna be alright," Lulu said again.

Instead of asking why, Lulu instead comforted her in the midst of her dark problems.

Corine gave an appreciative smile to Lulu, which was received back with a very warm smile which could melt most men into nothingness.

Reaching the meeting room, Lulu was immediately barred out of the way, only letting Corine in. Lulu mouthed "Good luck!" which Corine mouthed back "Thanks!".

Inside, the tension was so thick, you should cut it with an axe. Every expression she could see gloomy as a heavy thunderstorm and dangerous as lightning.

If looks could kill, Corine would be stabbed about 50 times 2 hours ago. Instead of Ape, Luigi started "This is a problem,".

No kidding. That was 2 hours ago, man! Plenty of men were edging near her, all sort of threatening but there was more that Corine involuntary moved a step back.

"Ooo... Scared?" asked one of the men near her left.

"No, I have dealt with worse things than you," Corine scoffed back.

To that guy, it was no compliment. He pushed Corine against the wall. "What did you say?!" he snarled. He cocked his fist.

Slam!

But it never made contact with her. It was held back by a hand held out by one of the men.

"You alright?" he asked.

Corine blushed a little "Yeah," and was rewarded with his smile which turned her face into a beetroot. He was not much older than her, she could see.

Slam!

Her thoughts were interrupted by Luigi who was clearly annoyed. "This is a serious matter and you want to play lovers!" Luigi exclaimed.

Corine felt the heat from her neck the moment Luigi said lovers. "That's not it!" Corine shouted at Luigi.

There were a lot of oohs and ahh from the men although the condition of the situation.

"ENOUGH!" Ape shouted. He was clearly frustrated with the hubbub. "We all know why we are here. To discuss what we should do with Shadow," he started, eying her once he mentioned her name.
