"You know, desperation is ugly." Melanie sighed to her mother. They're both sat in Cheryl's bed, complete messes.
Cheryl is uncontrollably crying and can't stop calling JB. Melanie can't help but inwardly judge her mother. She doesn't understand why she is obsessing over someone who hurt her so badly. He ended everything, said he was done, he wanted everything to be over - and she still wants him back?
"What?" Cheryl sniffles, surprised that her daughter has spoke up. She's never heard Melanie be so stern or seen her eyes filled with so much coldness.
"If you keep calling him, you'll only bug him more. It's just like when me and you fight, you give me space. If you wouldn't have given me that space, we probably wouldn't be as close as we are today." Melanie said as she looked up at her mother whose staring back at her with bloodshot, tear-stained eyes.
"I didn't really give you space-" Cheryl said through her tears. She's referring to the times where she constantly knocks on Melanie's door, begging for her to come out. She hates when her daughter locks herself in her room.
"We both know that you have keys to my bedroom door, you could have come in at any point. But, you didn't. You gave me space." Melanie explained to her mother, out-smarting Cheryl. Melanie got off the bed and walked over to the bedroom door. She's done watching her Mam tear herself down.
"Wait-" Cheryl stops the only person she feels that actually loves her.
"Maybe you're right. I should stop calling, shouldn't I?" Cheryl asked, getting Melanie to turn around. She looked at her mother; shirt soaked with tears, hair an absolute mess, lips puffy, eyes bloodshot, and cheeks dampened.
"Can I have a cuddle, now?" Cheryl whined to her daughter, who can't stop silently shaking her head. She doesn't understand why her mother is drowning herself in these emotions.
"Not when you're like this." Melanie replies, before she walks out the bedroom door.
"Why?!" Cheryl stops her daughter once again, making Melanie sigh. She takes a deep breath before she spits out the truth to her mother.
"If your going to continue to sulk around in bed for the next few days, I won't be joining you. Also, I'm not gonna bring you any more stuff. From now on, you can get up and get it yourself. Look at me, I get up every morning, move on with my life, and forget about him. I know I didn't love him the way you did, but maybe you should try doing the same." Melanie then closed the conversation with her wise words. Cheryl sat in her bed, stunned at her daughter. It's like she just got slapped in the face. Melanie just slapped some sense straight into her face - and it's exactly what she needed.

A few days later
"So, this is the last house we thought you might be interested in. It's really modern and different, but a lot of people become interested." The real estate agent spoke to Cheryl as she drove down the motorway. Cheryl nodded and listened to her, also keeping her eye on Melanie, whose sat in the backseat.
It's been a few days since Jean-Bernard and Cheryl have officially split. When Cheryl was with Ashley, Melanie was too young to realize the things that he did to her mother, so she has nothing against him. She actually really loved Ashley, he was a part of her life for six whole years. Melanie disliked Tre, she knew he wasn't the one. She was young then, too - but not blind. But this time, something was different. Jean-Bernard was a refreshing change for Melanie.
