"My sweet sixteen, can you believe it?!" Melanie excitedly spoke to Kimba down the phone. Kimberley called to wish her a happy birthday and see how she was doing. Kimberley and Melanie have always been close and enjoy talking to each other. Kimberley is the one who helped the lost teen through the divorce with JB.

"It's going to be amazing! Do you feel any different? I remember I felt completely grown up." Kimberley sighed as Melanie giggled at Kimberley's inner-teen.

"I don't feel too different. I feel the same as I do yesterday, just one year older!" Melanie giggled and saw her mother walk into her room.  Cheryl laid herself next to her daughter on the bed.  Melanie put the phone on speaker and let Kimberley talk down the line.

"When I was sixteen my Mum started to put me up for acting auditions.  When I would get one, my Mum and I would have a shopping spree together.  We never usually got to do stuff like that, but we knew we were earning money." Kimberley laughed as she heard Melanie's giggling.

"Hi, Kimba." Cheryl said, talking to her best friend down the teen's phone.

"Hey!  I'll definitely be there, today.  Can't wait to see you two!" Kimberley said, making the two girls smile.  They love Kimberley and both have an individual bond with her.  Melanie rolled her eyes as Kimberley and her mother went into a different conversation.  She waited for them to finish and then said their goodbyes.

"So, about later tonight..." Cheryl trailed off, not knowing how to ask her question.

"Yes..." Melanie mocked her mother and raised her eyebrows.

"Where are you and your friends going?" Cheryl protectively asked, not wanting Melanie to go anywhere she doesn't know about.

"I told you, we're just going to have dinner and hang out." Melanie casually said, feeling terrible about lying to her.

"Okay, just don't be home too late." Cheryl warned the teen, earning a huge eye roll.

"I won't." Melanie sighed and walked into her closet.  She picked out a white crop top and short dungarees.  She clipped the straps in place and threw on her white converse as well.

For the party this afternoon, Cheryl has arranged for her and Melanie to meet the girls at a park with Melanie's best friend, Sierra.  Except there's a little twist to the story.

"You look very cute." Cheryl smiled at Melanie and got up from the teen's bed.  She kissed her daughter's forehead and asked her to help her pick out her clothes.

After getting ready, driving to the park, and figuring out where the girls were, Melanie was walking through the park with her mother. The teen followed her Mam's pulls and tugs to a secluded seating area and was met by a big surprise.

"Surprise!"

Melanie saw a sight that she never wants to forget.  Obviously all of Melanie's friends were there like Sierra, Jo, Alice, Sophia, Emmeline, Jen, Max, Zach, Derek, and Thomas.  She smiled at all of them smiling back at her, happy to know that she was surprised.  When Melanie looked more around the room she saw Kimberley, Nicola, Nadine, Sarah, Lily, Garry, Cheryl's choreographer Beth, Kimberley's sisters Amy and Sally, Reggie and Bollie, and so many more loved ones.

There were tables around the grass that were beautifully decorated.  The trees around were decorated with fairy lights hanging off the branches.  A table with all of Melanie's favourite foods and a cake was standing nearby.  There was loads of different decorations around, but Melanie didn't see them.  She was too busy looking shocked and seeing her Mam's innocent face.
