"Riley! Wait!" Someone screamed from behind me as I aimlessly walked down the street. Ignoring it, I kept my pace walking down the sidewalk.

"Riley!" I heard again. I turned around and saw Alex running towards me. Shock made its way through my heart as I tried to think of a way out of this. Running even faster, I nearly tripped over my own two feet.

"Come back!" I heard and he sounded like he was right behind me. I just kept on running until I hit a dead end. It was a tall stone wall, there was no way I could even attempt to climb over it. Knowing this, I sat against the wall and just began sobbing. Before I knew it, Alex was right in front of me, looking down at me.

"You have to make everything difficult, don't you?" He asked, stuffing his hands in the pockets of his hoodie.

"Alex... please just go." I whipped the tears from my face.

"Not until I finish what I've started."

"What do you mean?"

He pulled his hand out his pocket, revealing a gun. The tears made their way down my face again. I made no noise. Neither did he. The only sound made was the gun clicking as he loaded it before he pointed it at me.

"Please don't" I whispered.

"I need to."

He bent down to my level and leaned in. He placed a kiss on my lips. A nice one. A kiss filled with sorrow. In all my confusion, I moved my hands around his neck and began kissing him harder. His free hand made its way up my shirt as he fondled with my bra.

"Say goodbye, Babe." He whispered into the kiss and he pulled the gun to his own head now and shot. The only noise was the echo of the gun... and my screams.

---

"FUCK!" I screamed, waking up and looking around at the white room before me.

There was no Alex, no stone wall, no gun. Nothing was happening besides the clock blinking '4:16 A.M.' beside me.

"It was just a dream." I whispered to myself.

The door to my room opened. I was expecting it to be my mother telling me to be quiet. But, to my surprise there stood my brother. His hair spread all around. He looked tired, confused, and worried all at once.

"Colby, did I wake you up?" I asked.

"Yeah... what's wrong?" he asked, sitting beside me in my bed.

"I had a really bad nightmare. About Alex." I told him.

"Ahh." He sighed. "Tell me about it."

"Well," I started. "He was chasing after me, calling my name, so I ran from him. I kept running until I hit a tall stone wall and I sat against it, and started crying. He came over to me and pulled a gun out of his pocket. He said he had to 'finish what he started' and he pointed the gun at me. Then he kissed me. We shared this amazing kiss... and it started to get heated. Then he said 'Say goodbye, Babe.' and I thought he was going to shoot me... but he shot himself."

"Woah." Colby let out a breath. "I think I know what your subconscious is trying to tell you."

"What?"

"Without noticing, you feel like you're worried about how Alex feels about you leaving. You're worried he might go through what he did last time you broke up with him."

"You're right. I am worried about that." I was astonished that a 15 year old high school boy could figure it out, and I couldn't.

"Maybe you should finally turn your phone on. If he calls... answer. You don't have to take him back, but try to hear him out, okay?"

"Okay."

"Well, I'm going back to sleep. Try to get some rest... okay, sis?" He asked, before walking out of my room.

"Thanks Colb." I smiled.

"You're welcome."

I reached for my phone on the table beside me and pressed the on button. The time difference from Oklahoma to Maryland was very different. He could be calling at any minute now.
