"...We're over. Bye." The voicemail message played over and over in Alex's mind as he laid in bed thinking. He had gotten Riley's message the previous night. The first thing he could do was sleep. When Alex had a problem, he slept it off, but as the morning sun shone through the clean windows the problems fought their way back into Alex's mind.

"You finally woke up." Lisa said, walking into Alex's bedroom.

"Lisa? How did you get in here?" Alex asked.

"I still have the key to your house."

"Oh."

Alex sat up and a headache instantly hit his head. He drank way more than he should have last night. Drinking, Alex thought, was also a good way to drown out the situation.

"Something on your mind?" Lisa asked, sitting next to the hung-over rock star.

"No." Alex mumbled.

"I can tell when something's wrong."

"I'm fine."

"Alex.."

"I said im fine!" Alex snapped.

"Wow." Lisa scoffed. "I'm going home. Call me when you're not fucked up."

Alex rested his head in his hands. He peered up to watch Lisa leave. She turned and looked back at him.

"Bye." She waved.

Alex was silent as he placed his head back in his hands. He could hear the front door close. How did Riley find out? He had been so careful with everything. How was he supposed to know Riley's home town was also Maryland?

Trembling, Alex picked up his cell phone and dialed Riley's number. Her phone was off because he instantly hit voicemail. He knew how Riley felt at that moment. Like he was unwanted.

"Riley." Alex spoke into the phone. His voice was raspy and dry. "I know you must be really mad and I did make a mistake. I know that. It's just I realize now that everything was a mistake. Please."

Alex took a deep breath as he remembered their first date. Everything she wore. How her hair looked. They way she laughed, smiled, and talked.

"Please." He repeated. "Call me back. Please."

He hung up the phone realizing how desperate he sounded. He must have said please at least 10 times. Was it sad that he missed the girl he knew for a few months?

"What is he doing in Maryland?" Kailyn asked.

"Apparently him and the other guys are all from here."

"I'm so sorry." Kailyn frowned.

"I'll be okay I guess." Riley looked towards the wall.

"I have good news though."

"What?"

"Jack and I have been talking. Now that I know he's in Maryland we can see each other."

"That's great."

Riley tired to be happy for her friend but she couldn't help but be upset. The one guy in her life that she could trust back stabbed her.

"Well, Riley I have to go to my parent's house. They want me to visit."

"Okay. Bye. Tell them I say hi."

"Bye, girl. I hope you feel better.

"Thanks."

Kailyn left leaving Riley alone to sulk in the issue. She decided to get up and go get her broken phone replaced. She got her lazy ass up and showered and dressed herself before making her way down the sidewalk, lighting a cigarette in her mouth.

As she sharply turned the corner, she bumped into someone.

"Oh. I'm so sorry." The person said.

"Its okay." She looked up and the cigarette smoke cleared up, revealing a familiar face. The face of the bassist for the band All Time Low.

"Hi Zack." Riley smiled, happy for a moment.

"Hey, Riley." Zack looked from Riley's face to the cigarette in her hand.

"Smoking?"

"Yeah. It's a bad habit." Riley sighed, throwing the stick to the sidewalk and putting it out. She looked up at Zack and her heart sank. Zack reminded her of Alex.

"Is something wrong?" Zack asked.

"Um... no." Riley whispered.

"I know about... everything."

"You do?"

"Alex told me."

The sound of his name made Riley want to throw up. Zack realized he had upset the girl and pulled her into a hug.

"You know, You're my friend, Riley. If you ever need to talk. You have my number."

"Thanks, Zack. Tell Lanie I say hi."

"Will do. I'll talk to you later, Riley.

"Bye, Zack."

"Bye."

Riley walked away feeling a little happier that at least someone cared. Also she felt a little upset that Zack reminded her so much of Alex. The man she really cared for. This was going to be a rough recovery.

Riley lit another cigarette to calm herself. This habit was getting out of control. Little did she, or anyone else, know; Alex had found an even worse way to cope.
