Chapter Three:

I attempt to walk in gracefully but with a bit of confidence, keeping my posture picture perfect as I make my way to the small couch they have set up. Each city hall has one room with two couches and a photo area similar to the kind models have. This is the Selection room, only used one week out of the year.

With its cream walls, plump little red couches, it's cosy and comfy. I sit up straight and cross my legs, smoothing out my dress and placing my wallet and jacket beside me.

"Hi!" I say, smiling genuinely.

"Hello Sunshine!" says the perky host. David Davidson is the host for interviewing the contestants and brocading during the Selection. He is like the Tim Gunn to Project Runway! He looks good, which runs in the Davidson family. They always have hot baby boys to be the hosts, they are the family of television.

"How are you?" I ask.

"Good! You are the first girl of the morning not to jump right in to interviewing." he chuckles, brushing his dark hair back.

"My dad taught me manners..." I say, "Not saying the other girls don't have manners! I was just taught to be extra respectful, and I take pride on that."

As if on cue, a man and a women scribble on their notepad, probably about how rude I was....

"How about we take some photos then question?"

"Sounds perfect!" I respond, collecting my wallet.

"We will take three photos" David instructs, "They can be in whatever poses you want."

I do one just looking forward and smiling.

Then one of me with a silly face, sticking out my tongue and having big eyes.

Then one candid of me laughing, while brushing my hands through my hair.

"Wow!" David gasps. "They look so, well, real!"

I laugh, "I hope so! I can't have the Prince thinking I am fake!"

"I just mean, you should see some of the photos we have..." he drifts off, probably remembering some of them.

"Why are you entering the competition?" he asks.

"Truthfully, I want to make my younger sister happy. She loves the whole idea of the Selection, regardless of my many "chose your own love" lectures. She is going through a rough time right now, and I will do anything to bring her a bit of joy." I say, looking at my shoes. I don't want to cry during this recording. I leave out that I need the money, but everything I said was true.

"She sounds like she means a lot to you."

"She does, my family is what is most important to me." I confessed.

"What are some of your hobbies?"

" I am a big arts person. I have tried a bit of everything but I am drawn to painting and singing." I respond. "But I also love playing sports, especially with my neighbor and brother. I was a gymnast in my earlier years, before some family stuff came up. I had a lot of fun doing that and I made many friends. I find I missed out on a lot of 'girl' moments without my mom around, and being involved with my younger sister by doing many artistique activities makes me have those moments with her. Everything I enjoy links back to family."

"If you could have any job in the world, what would it be and why?"

Without hesitating a blurt, "A doctor that specializes in treating leukemia patients. I want to help others because I have revived a lot of help. Doctors are one of those people I feel make sacrifices every day for withers, so I want to make a sacrifice for someone else to impact them."

"Do you see yourself being able to be Queen?"

"Mentally, I can't see myself being Queen right now mostly because of the media attention and poise they have. However I feel one day I would be able to make a good Queen. Like I have mentioned before I want to make a difference, and with being Queen I can help make choices for our nation." I giggle "however I don't think walking around in heels would suit me well. I almost fell running out my door this morning, but my neighbor caught me!" David laughs, which I hope is a good sign. I want to be relatable and genuine.

"I don't think anyone could see what shoes you would wear under those large, but beautiful, dresses." David claimed.

"I sure hope so! I could go around the Palace in fuzzy slippers if I wanted!" I added. "I mean if I get the chance to even go in the Palace."

"Can you tell me a little about your family?" David questions, clearly interested.

"I have an older brother Owen, who I love to death, but I personally feel he deserves a break. Then I have a younger sister Abigail, and you could have rain for a week straight and her mood would still be bubbly. That's actually it." I say that last part quietly.

"Where are your parents?" he asks, concerned.

"My parents were divorced, and my Dad recently passed away." I explained, on the verge of tears.

"I am sorry for your loss." he said, quietly. There is a bit of an awkward pause. "Last question, what are your thoughts about the Prince?"

"No question, he is really cute." I admitted "But he also seems hard to read... I hope to get the chance to get to know him better. Not only could he be my future husband but he will also be make choices for the nation!"

David laughs again, I think I am on a roll.

"Thank you Miss Montgomery" he says leading me to the door. "I think we will see you again"
