DANIELLE'S POV

After Harland left, I decided to go to the shop. I hadn't been down there in days and I needed to get my mind working again.

"JARVIS? Power up my suit. Lemme have a look at it on the holographic table." I ordered, pushing my twirly chair to the table.

"Yes ma'am." JARVIS made the suit pop up. I tapped the pen in my hand on the table.

"Just kidding, JARVIS. Hey? Does dad or anyone else know anything about what happened to me? Or at least who had held me?" I asked.

"I'm sorry, Danielle." That was a no.

"Okay...." I sighed. I rolled my chair back to the desk and put my feet on it. "JARVIS? Do you know where everyone is?"

"Yes ma'am. Mr. Stark and Mrs. Potts are in a meeting on the fourth floor of the Tower, while the rest of the Avengers are either at the SHIELD base or on the top floor of the Tower. Jeremy, Harland, and Christopher are all in the game room and Austin is actually on his way down to see you at the moment."

"Thanks, bud." I tapped my pen on the desk. The elevator doors opened before Austin walked to me. "Hey."

"Hey. How ya feeling?" He sat on the desk.

"Okay. I guess." I pulled my knees to my chest and leaned my head back. "Austin? Am I acting different than I was before?"

"I dunno. Yeah. Kinda. But its reasonable and understandable."

"I don't want to act different, Austin. I don't want to be a new Danielle. I loved the old me." I wiped a tear from my cheek.

"Oh, Dani. Sweetie. The real you is just buried inside. You'll find her when the light is revealed."

"I hope you're right, Austin." I sighed.

"Ms. Danielle? Agent Coulson, Director Fury, Mr. Stark, and Agent Ward are all on their way down to the shop." JARVIS said.

"That's my que. See ya later, Dani." Austin hugged me tightly. I hugged him too before he left.

"Danielle?" Grant, Phil, Fury, and dad walked to me a few minutes later.

"Yeah?" I lightly twirled around in my chair.

"Danielle. Can I get you to do something for me?" Fury asked. I stopped twirling and looked up at them.

"It depends." I whispered.

"Can I get you to be in the same room as Hammer, RedSkull, Loki, and Quinn?" Fury questioned.

"Danielle. You don't have to." Dad sighed.

"I don't mind being in the same room as RedSkull or Loki. They never touched me in any way. I actually annoyed the hell out of them." I laughed quietly.

"Well what about Quinn or Hammer?"

"I-I-I-I-I don't think that's a good idea." I shook my head. "But I really don't want to see any of them."

"That's perfectly fine-"

"No its not, Mr. Stark. If you want to find the ones who did that to her, she needs to suck it up!" Fury interrupted dad.

"What do you mean 'did that' to me, Fury?" I asked. He had gestured to me when he said 'did that'

"The scars. I'm not gonna sugar coat it for you, Danielle. They'll never go away. They'll only haunt you. They'll be there as a constant reminder of what happened. You'll never forget what they did to you, Danielle-"

"You're wrong." I shook my head as I started to cry. "You're wrong."

"No I'm not, Danielle. Cuts like that leave scars! You'll never look, feel, or act the same-"

"You're a lair!!" I slammed my fist down on the table. "You're lying!!" I screamed before leaving the shop. I knew he was right. When the doors opened, I pushed pass everyone who tried to stop me, then slammed my bedroom door shut as hard as I could. "Don't you dare open the door for anyone, JARVIS."

"Yes ma'am." I locked both my bedroom door and the bathroom door as I sat on the bathroom counter. They'll never go away. They'll only haunt you. His words rang through my head, over and over, as tears just streamed down my cheeks. A pair of arms wrapped around me. I pushed Grant away.

AGENT GRANT WARD'S POV

Danielle was just completely bawling as she was sitting on the bathroom counter. I had to bust through the door just to get into the bedroom while Stark was still in the shop, cussing the hell out of Fury. I wrapped my arms around her, but she shoved me away as hard as she could.

"Dani. Baby. Don't listen to Fury." I tried to hug her again but she pushed me and this time, I hit the wall. I shook it off but kept my distance.

"Go the hell away, Grant!" She yelled.

"Danielle. Baby. Don't listen to Fury-"

"No! He's right! He's so right. I just didn't want to face it. I knew they'd never go away. I just didn't want to believe it! Cause when I start believing things, they become reality! That's why I always was joking around! I told you the damn world is dark!" She was off the counter now, and started- or attempted- to hit me but had no effect.

"Danielle." Pepper and Stark walked in.

"Go away!" Dani screamed. I dodged a can of hair spray that she launched at me. "I don't need you!" She threw a bottle of something at Pepper. Stark caught it and sat it down away from Danielle.

"Danielle-"

"STOP IT, DAD!!!" Danielle tried to push pass me, to get out of the bathroom.

"Grant." Pepper sighed. I picked Danielle up and took her out to her room. The whole way there, she was kicking and hitting me. I laid her on her bed and shut the door. "Danielle. Calm down."

"He's right, mom." She gave up and put her face in the pillow as she cried. "He's so right."

"No, honey. Fury isn't right." Stark sat by his daughter. "Hell. He's hardly ever right."

"Tony." Pepper shook her head. "Dani. Sweetie. You're a smart, beautiful, unique, gorgeous young girl. The scars will go away." Danielle didn't say anything for quite a while.

"Just leave me alone."

"Okay, baby. Call me if you need me." Pepper and Stark kissed Danielle before leaving. Stark motioned for me to follow him. I walked out to the hallway, closing the door behind me.

"Come and get me if anything happens, Ward."

"Yes sir." I nodded.

"Now if you'll both excuse me." He went to the elevator. "I have some ass to kick."

"Tony!" Pepper followed her husband into the elevator. I walked back into the bedroom. Danielle was still crying when I went in. I climbed into the bed beside her and pulled her closer to me.

"Go away, Grant." She muttered.

"I love you." I kissed her neck. She tried to hide a smile. "I see that gorgeous smile, Danielle."

"Go away. I don't want anyone near me." Danielle put her face even deeper into the pillow.

"Danielle-"

"STOP, GRANT!!" She suddenly threw her pillow at me. "GET OUT! NOW! I don't want anyone! I don't need you! I don't need any of you!" She started pushing me out of the room.

DANIELLE'S POV

I slammed the door shut behind him, locked it, and turned the lights out. I made my way over to the corner of the room, where my bed was. I curled up in a tight ball, crying my eyes out.
