The fact that I couldn't remember shit from the week I was gone was making me pissed. I was currently sitting on my bathroom counter with my fucking cow size boot leg straightened out. I was just looking at myself in the mirror, trying to find Danielle. My fingers ran over the pink gash on my cheek, then went to the tiny cuts. They wouldn't ever go away. I'd never be able to show myself in public again. Tears came to my eyes. I always did this, make myself cry. I hadn't noticed Grant leaning against the bathroom doorframe. I turned to him but looked at my hands instead of his saddened, brown eyes. Everyone's eyes were always sad when they came to see me. I hadn't seen Phil since I've been home. I really wanted to see him. I felt a tear run down my cheek.
"Danielle." Grant caressed my cheek with his hand and wiped the tear away with his thumb. "You still look gorgeous. Looks don't matter."
"But they do if you have the paparazzi on your ass every time you leave your own home." I cried into his shoulder.
"Dani?" Mom knocked lightly on the bathroom door. In the four days that I'd been home, the nickname 'Dani' seemed to get around to everyone.
"Yeah?" I sniffled and wiped my cheeks, looking up at her.
"Listen. The cuts will go away. Its only been four days, sweetie." She smiled.
"I know but I'm gonna have to stay here for months until they're gone completely." I cried again.
"No you won't, honey. That's what base is for."
"I love you." I lightly laughed. "Mom? Can we go back to the base? I want to try to figure out who held me captive."
"Danielle. Baby. I don't think that's a good idea." Dad appeared behind mom.
"But I need the answers." I whispered.
"Danielle. Sometimes the answers aren't what we were hoping for." I hadn't noticed Phil was also in my room. I pushed pass mom and dad and hugged him tightly. "Easy, tiger. We don't need you breaking anything or damaging yourself even more." He rubbed my back. "Are you feeling okay?"
"Yeah." I nodded. "Mom? Dad? Grant? Can I talk with Phil? Alone?"
"Bye baby." Dad and mom hugged me before they left and Grant kissed me before leaving.
"Listen to me, Danielle. The answers you are looking for, are not what you want." Phil held my hands.
"But Phil. I need to know." I whispered.
"I wanted to know the full extent of what happened to me when I "died" or whatever. But the answers weren't close to what I was looking for. They took a piece of me away. Don't do it, Danielle. You don't need to loose any more of yourself."
"Phil." I started to cry. "I just need to know so they can be found." He sighed.
"Then go on and do it." He softly smiled.
"Can you come with me?" I asked.
"Of course." He kissed my forehead before we went to the living room.
"Mom? Dad? Phil's gonna take me over to the base. You guys can stay here or come. I don't care." I shrugged my good shoulder.
"We'll come in a few minutes. We need to work something out first." Mom hugged me.
"I'm coming with you." Grant followed us into the elevator. "Are you sure you want to do this, Danielle?"
"Yeah." I took a shallow, but deep breath.
