Avoidance at it's best

So, I tried my best to avoid the three yo-yo's as best as I could which was nearly impossible with having a class with each one individually and detention with all three together. Usually, I would tell them to get bent, but that just landed me into trouble with many lectures from Nana.

Dad was busy with his case. He told me they almost have Carlos's identity figured out and to be careful since his kid goes to my school. Easier said than done.

Great my dad is hunting some dangerous criminal and I go to school with said criminal's son, plus I'm dealing with three idiots and my other friends. Life is just peachy right now.

After school detention, I headed home. I was walking thru the neighborhood when a convertible pulled up with the three idiots themselves. I kept walking. Maybe if I just ignore them, they will go away.

"Sasha," Jaxon yelled.

Guess not.

"What?!"

He stopped and looked at me, "Get in."

"I like walking. It's good exercise and I get fresh air," I said a matter of fact.

He rolled his eyes and got out of the car and walked over to me, "Get in the car."

"I was told not to take rides from imbeciles," I said back to him while also looking at the other two.

"Just get in the car," he said in frustration.

"No."

"Fine have it your way," he shrugged. Jaxon 0 Sasha 1, then he picked me up and carried me to the car, tossing me into the back seat next to Liam. Scratch that Jaxon 1 Sasha 0.

I looked at Liam, "Keep your lips to yourself hot lips."

Jaxon got in and turned around, "What did she mean keep your lips to yourself?"

Liam shrugged, "I have no idea what she's talking about."

"Oh, he didn't tell you. That's rich," I scoffed. "Idiot here stole my first kiss, but I guess what are the secrets amongst good friends."

Jaxon's blood boils and he shot Liam a glare who shrunk into his seat, mumbling to himself.

Well, I guess secrets don't stay secret anymore.

Jaxon dropped me off as soon as I got home, he pulled out of the driveway quickly, peeling down the street. He didn't even say bye. Here I thought we had a breakthrough and were becoming friends, oh, well.

I went into the house and dad was actually home for a bit until he had to leave again.

"Hola Papi," I said, giving him a kiss. He was sitting at the table eating.

"Hola mija," he said, giving me a kiss back.

"Hola nana," I said as I gave her a kiss.

"Hola nieta, dinner is ready. Go wash up," she said as she dished out onto a dinner plate for me. After washing up I came down and joined them for dinner.

"How are things with the case, Papi?"

"It's good. We have a good strong, solid lead and as soon as we get a chance we'll move in. Right now it's just a lot of waiting and watching. Although we did find out who his kid is," my dad taking another bite.

"Oh? Who is it," I asked.

"Sorry mija, I can't discuss it with you. The less you know the better," he said, picking up his plate and taking it to the sink.

"But you have discussed the case with me," I added.

"Only bare minimum and for your protection. Other than that, the less you know the better. Don't worry," he said, giving me a kiss, then Nana a kiss as he headed out the back door.

I know it's his job, but sometimes it would be nice to know more, than snippets here and there. I just resigned myself that he was never going to tell me. Maybe that was a good thing.

I went up to my room and decided to work on my drawings. If it was one thing I could always lose myself in, it was my sketchbook. I grabbed it off my desk and opened it to a drawing I had currently been working on. It needed some shading to give it the perspective I was looking for.

After a while on a drawing, I looked at the clock next to my bed and decided to turn in. I threw on a pair of old sweats and a tank top. I walked over to my window and looked out into the night sky. I noticed the night air had a slight chill to it. Must be starting to get cold.

I wasn't used to this weather yet, or the change of seasons for that matter. Growing up in California all my life, it did get cold, but not cold enough that you couldn't wear a hoodie or sweater. Rarely did we ever get snow, which was something I was curious to see since we arrived?

I looked at my phone and had a new message. I opened it up to see it was from one of my friends back home. What I wasn't prepared for was the snakiness of the message.

Stop calling and texting. No one here wants to talk to you. You're gone and we're glad. Sorry it had to be this way, but it's so much better without you here - Gia

Okay, that message wasn't snarky, so much as downright mean and cruel. I had known Gia my whole life and she was the last person I thought would turn on me.

I sent one back:

Is this because I didn't get a chance to say goodbye because I'm sorry? I didn't get a chance. It was so quick. Please do not be angry with me - Sasha

A few minutes later I got one back:

No, like I care you left. You were such a bitch I'm glad you're gone. Now I don't have to defend yourself. Have fun with your new life and stop contacting me! I'm blocking your number now - Gia

I was shocked. I never knew she felt this way. Has our friendship always been a lie?

This is why I hadn't heard from anyone. Apparently, they were never my friends and were pretending to be. I just hope it's not the same here. I couldn't help with feeling down after that last message which would make for a long night.
