It was my job to get Gio off Jacob's trail. How could he be so stupid? All this work down the drain because he got careless. This was going to be one for the books.
*****
Jaxon picked me up from school and when we arrived we heard a lot of commotion. We ran into the school to find Gio beating the shit out of Jacob as Liam tried to stop him but was held back by two guys."What in the world," I said is a shock.
"Stay here," Jaxon ordered me. Well, we know how much I like to be told what to do. So, I followed him. He turned around and saw me behind him, "What are you doing?! I told you to stay put!"
"You're not my boss! You're my boyfriend," I yelled at him and he rolled his eyes as he made his way to Gio. He grabbed Gio and threw a punch. Gio stumbled and lunged at Jaxon as I decided to jump on his back.
"Get off me, you crazy bitch!"
"Oh hell no Estupido!" I threw punches until he tossed me off of him making me fly through the air onto the floor.
"Oh hell no you didn't," Jaxon yelled, grabbing him by the shirt and throwing a fast and swift punch, knocking him out. Then he helped Liam with the other guys who made a break for it. He went over and helped me up and Liam tended to Jacob, who looked like he had been through the mill.
"You okay," he asked me as he stood me up.
"Yeah, nothing I'm not used to," I said dusting myself off.
"Pretty ballsy if you asked me," he smirked.
"Yeah, I would have big bolas, if I was a guy," I smiled back.
"Maybe one day you can find out if that is true or not," he smirked making me blush.
"Keep dreaming Blondie," I said as I walked over to Jacob and Liam.
"Are you okay, Jacob," I asked.
"Yeah, I don't even know what happened. I was on my way to class with Liam and the next thing I knew Gio started wailing on me, claiming I'm some agent or something. I don't even know what he's talking about," he said, holding a tissue to his nose.
"An agent like an FBI agent," I said surprised.
"Yeah, why?"
"No reason," I said, trying to cover my mistake. They all looked at me then I shrugged, "What? Okay, I watch a lot of crime shows with nana." Good cover up. One point to Sasha.
Liam took Jacob to the nurse while Jaxon and I walked to class. Why would Gio attack Jacob and think he was an agent? Most agents could take him down one movement. Jacob was sloppy. Jaxon did a better job even though he could use a few tips in fighting.

After Gio got patched up by the nurse he left school to make a call. What?!
"I think I made a mistake."
What did you do Gio?!
"I went after him."
What?! Why would you do a fucking stupid move like that?!
"I figure he would show his true colors so I could take him out."
And did he?!
"No, this guy can't fight to save his life. When I asked him about Manny, he said he was talking to his friend."
Christ Gio you're so damn stupid at times! I can't believe you're my son! I want you home now!
The phone went dead and Gio stormed home.
*****
No one saw Gio the rest of the day. He's probably licking his wounds. Jaxon drove me home and pulled into my driveway."Coming in," I asked him.
"You're dad home," he asked me.
"No, I think he's working late."
"Then, sure," he said.
I giggled, "Awe, is someone scared of Papi?"
"Considering he looks like he could snap my neck, nope."
I rolled my eyes, "Come on. Nana probably has dinner ready." I got out of the car and he followed suit. We walked into the house and into the kitchen as Nana was cooking. I gave her a kiss and got plates out of the cabinet for dinner.
Jaxon joined us for dinner while during it, he got a call from his dad. He excused himself as he took the call. We sat in the kitchen and caught up with our day when we heard yelling coming from the living room. We both got up to see what was going on.
Jaxon was pacing back and forth as he was talking on the phone, "No, I don't know when I'm coming home! Maybe I won't bother to come home periodically! You call yourself a father?! You haven't been a father in years!"
He hung up on his dad and ran his hands in frustration. He started to leave when I asked, "Jaxon?"
"I got to go," he mumbled as he stormed out, slamming the door behind him.
I looked at Nana and she looked back at me and raised her hands in the air, shaking her head. I went upstairs and did my homework, but I couldn't stop thinking about what happened earlier with Jaxon when he was on the phone.
I decided to try and call him, but I got no answer even with texting. I finally gave up and went to bed. I lay there, not being able to sleep just wondering if everything was okay.
As I lay there worrying, I heard a knock at my window. I got up and opened my window to find a battered Jaxon.
"Oh god, Jaxon! What happened," I yelled in a whisper.
"My dad happened," he said.
"Come in," I said helping him in my window. Once he was inside I closed the window and he stood there with his back to me.
I walked over and gently touch his back and he swung around throwing his arms around me, hugging me tightly. I wrapped my arms around him as we stood there I silence. That cocky guy I met the first day was standing here beaten and bruised by a man that is supposed to protect you. How can a father do that?
I let go of him and had him sit on the side of my bed as I left the room. I returned with nana in tow who was carrying a first aid kit. She turned on the light and saw his face as I did. We were shocked to see how bad it was.
I sat down next to him and took his hand as she knelt in front of him, cleaning the abrasions and placing ointment and bandages on his cuts. He squeezed my hand as I gave him a soft smile. Once nana was done, she left us alone.
I leaned my head on his shoulder as he sat there. We didn't speak, but sat there in comfortable silence. Sometimes a person doesn't need to talk, they just need someone to be there for them without judgment. It was at that moment my heart ached for him. Could this mean I liked Jaxon more than I realized?
I lifted my head and looked at him. He turned and looked at me, then I realized something. I was falling for this guy and I was falling hard and fast, God help me.
